Books on period dress

I wad in a bookshop recently, and I saw all these military history books. Well, speicifcally ones that were geared towards providing full colour pictures of period military uniforms, for reenactors, wargamers, and the likes. It did strike me that a civial equivalent for the 30s thru 50s would be fantastic.... I'm not a vintage clothes person as such - I'm not a collector, what I like is reproductrion pieces that allow me to buy into the vintage style at an affordable price. I'm sure I've seen some recent suits that are really quite 30s in style, but I don't want to drop the money on something and then discover it simply ain't right.... if I had a book of that sort for civilian clothes, it would mean I would be confident about scouring new items and second hand shops for the right looks within my budget....

Anyone know of anything along these lines?
