Notre Dame said Tuesday that it would not release Demetrius Jones from his scholarship.
The former ND QB is benched for the season.

ND Update

Coach Weis has started his rebuilding effort; better late than never,
still, last week's mediocre field display portends a difficult game with
Michigan State this Saturday.

Demetrius Jones Update

Notre Dame has reversed and formally released Jones from his scholarship.
However, Jones may not be staying at Northern Illinois University,
and he stated to John Mullin, Chicago Tribune staff reporter, that he
will not transfer to any school competing against the Irish, ruling out a bid
for Michigan or Penn State.

Jones also claims that he will attend tomorrow's game against Michigan State.
Hmmm. Sounds like a possible comeback. :)

Talk about a third-down conversion. lol

And now a date with a man they've only beaten once, and that was in 1997 when he brought his #1 Gators into Tiger Stadium.

My Kentucky Wildcats are one of only three unbeaten teams in the SEC after putting 21 point on Arkansas in the 4th quarter last night.

Go Cats!

I do enjoy watching college football, and there's nothing more fun than enjoying a big time college game live, HOWEVER, I'm always reminded of a comment by the president of Harvard University, I believe it was Charles Eliot, around 1899 "Football has about as much to do with scholarship as bull fighting has to do with agriculture." Or words to that effect. It's a lot of fun, but the big time game has had SUCH a corrupting influence on American higher education.

Eliot also, I believe, started the case method analysis for legal education
at HLS, and should be burned in effigy....;)

As far as Football is concerned, I believe Eliot painted the gridiron with
a rather broad brush. The game itself is a great teacher; whether Eliot
grasped this is another matter entirely.

Then there is the matter of Postmodernism... Veritatis, Veritatis. :)

Go Yale! :)

Yes, it's a great game. But the corrupton of money and bogus amateurism is a bad thing. The whole issue of "amateurism" could get us all into a big brouhaha of controversy, but I really don't want to go there.

ND Update

Irish 3-4 Defense is inefffective; Purdue averages 527 yards per game,
and ND is likely to lose Saturday to the Boilermakers. P's QB, Curtis Painter,
has thrown 16 TD passes, only 1 intercept. :(
