Got this bi-Prince tonight for a decent price considering it comes with an original hat box.

This one is just too cool for school… Could not pass it up…. Even if it is tiny… I do intend to (slowly) squeeze it on my head!! :) I’m especially digging the brim binding with additional three rows of stitching. And that ribbon color!

Pictured here is a cream Stetson I purchased this afternoon in a 4X beaver with a copper ribbon, size 7 1/4. It’s a unique hat, as the sweatband was roughed down and liner replaced because of prior severe staining. The prior state can be seen in the last photo: it’s quite interesting that the stains did not get on the handsome felt. I have two questions for you all. How much has this hat diminished in value because of its modifications, compared to an original? Also, can we glean a timeframe of manufacturing?

I love the style of this hat and I’m quite excited to receive it. Thank you for your time and input, gentlemen!
Respectfully,
Brian

This is a recent hat, but not from the last several years. I suspect 1990s or 2000s. It looks to be a western/cowboy hat that someone has converted into a fedora. Nothing at all wrong with this, but it will have thicker and heavier western felt. Should be a very robust and long-wearing hat.

There was a short period when Stetson’s sweated were crap and yours looks to be from this era. I’ve owned a few and was picking bits of the sweatband surface off my forehead and out of my hair every time I wore them. Nothing to be done for them except to replace them or live with their quirks.

The hat didn’t have much if any collectibility. The condition really isn’t hurting the value because it’s been modified already and even if original it wouldn’t be one of the sought after hats. Please don’t misunderstand me, it may be a great hat for you and give you a lifetime of service, but it’s just not what the market considers to be desirable or collectible….some of my favorite hats fit into this category.
