Hat stretching?

Greetings, Folks,

Can a 7 3/8 Regular Oval, Stetson Western hat be safely stretched to be a Long Oval, without damaging the hat? If so, will dampening the hat a bit in the brim/crown junction, and applying a good hat jack, do the trick? Or, is this task best left to a good Hatter? Thanks for any help you can give, as I'm currently looking at a Regular Oval Stetson that I like very much, but don't want to buy it unless it will fit comfortably. Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc

Yes on all counts. Although a hatter can reblock it into a long oval, which might be a more satisfactory result.

For future reference, "the Ask a question, get an answer" is the general repository for such questions.
