I picked this up on Ebay last week. Vintage Brooks Brothers coat, and I'm told it is an M1943 Army officers' coat. Can anyone confirm this and/or provide more info? When was this pattern in use? Am I right that Army Air Force officers would have worn this?

Well, it looks just like the M-1943 Officer's Coat in the U.S. Army European Theater of Operations Collectors Guide. The exception is that your example is lighter in color and that it's made by Brooks Brothers (which is pretty cool).

Nice find!

Some other examples. Many were privately purchased, like yours, so there are subtle differences between many examples.

The design of these coats descended from the earlier shawl collared army mackinaw. Other than the collar style and the lack of belt, the cut and detailing is virtually identical.
