A couple of years before the dateline of this thread......March 1918, Stetson soft hats...... Back has an awesome ad for a "War Map".....yes, you too can see where our flag is going....... M
It's great seeing these old adverts. My mother initially trained to draw these very kinds of advertisements, but alas the industry has been overtaken by photography.
That is really cool about your mother. I really like the illustrated ads, the artwork is phenomenal......many of the early ones were proper finished paintings and it shows......just like the Saturday Evening Post covers we all love......really nice art indeed! And even in todays world of photography, the drawn and painted ads STILL draw my attention and remain memorable for many! (No pun intended ) M
I have been enjoying these so much. The 1918 war map ad is of great interest to me. The home front during the Great War is one of my historical interests. Really cool stuff! Thank you.
Thanks! I'll have to dig some of her work out of storage to scan and show off. It was really phenomenal, some of the stuff she did. She grew up as the last of the boomers, and I get a lot of my love for vintage style and the Golden Era come from her influence.
THAT would be great!!!!! This is definitely the place to show off her art!!!!! I for one would love to see it!!!!! M
Here are the Stetson pages from the Miller-Stockman cataloge from 1953.....Stetsons for boys.......Stetsons for the Ladies......AND Lots & Lots of Stetsons for men!!! M
Back to the twenties or early thirties with this cool blotter! This art was reproduced in several ads of the time...... M
FIVE REASONS to buy a Stetson, 1928. Do any of us here really need a reason?!?!?!?! M Oh, yes....if you have problems with your complexion.......
1946 with the Stetsonian again. This time telling us men how to pair our clothes with our hats, again attracting the ladies!! Note at top, it says the girl is wearing a Stetson too! A $22.95 number also called the Stetsonian also apparently....... M
1946....MORE pairing our clothes with our hats. THIS girl is wearing the Stetson "Target".....MUCH more reasonably priced at $12.95...... M On the back we get to try a dry martini! Sounds good actually.....hmmm....I think I need a posting break
