Hard to find in these parts. Havent had one in a coons age. I remember them as enjoyable.
And they were definitely different from the, mainly, chocolate- or peanut-related candies that dominated when we were growing up.
Cherry cake with chocolate chips and a Kirschwasser brandy soak / cherry mouse filling (with whole cherries) / cherry buttercream frosting:
Pickles! Zesty dill spears right out of the jar.
Freshly cut up pineapple.
Some storebrand Snickers.
For me that sometimes qualifies as lunch!
After watching this mornings news, it ain't gonna be Ritz crackers.
Chips and salsa
Rice crackers. I’m trying something new and avoiding wheat.
Some very crunchy and addicting nougatcream-filled (store brand) spelt cookies from drugstore, yummy.
Yesterday, super girlfriend enrobed some Halloween Peeps - ghosts and monster heads - in dark chocolate, which will provide much snacking joy for many days to come:
Plus my favorite Halloween candy of them all - Russell Stover's Orange Marshmallow Pumpkins - arrived. And it appears to have been a banner crop year in the pumpkin patch - great orange flavor and good soft marshmallow texture:
A very good friend of ours father is going on one of those golfing-with-the-guys vacations and asked super girlfriend (after all these years, SGF is like his second daughter) to bake some treats which had to include his favorite - her coffee cake.
Below is some of the "production," including two of the coffee cakes, snickerdoodle cookies and peanut butter cookies. There will also be chocolate chip and oatmeal with dried cherries cookies baked later today.
Hopefully some apple pie before too long. The are 11 pounds of apples in there!
Looks very promising. Can't wait to see the final result.
Waiting to cool...
Holy Schmoly that looks good. I assume you already have the vanilla ice-cream in the freezer?
Cherry and Lemon Chess pie minis from local pie shop "Living the Pie Life".
