This is the Lobbia Borsalino Qualità Suprema that Daniele posted a couple of weeks ago. It arrived Monday and after 24 hours on the stretcher, it was ready to wear today. Brim 7cm (2.75 inches), Crown 11cm (4.3 inches), ribbon 4cm (1.5) I have 3 other Homburgs with an equally wide brim and around the same crown size. I beleive this one seems "larger" due to it's colour in light perspective, but also due to the way the brim seems elongated along the sides.
A big thank you to Daniele for knowing my tastes and giving me the opportunity to bring this Borsalino into my possession and onto my head.

Last patient cancelled this afternoon, so I came home early. [emoji2]
Wearing the Borsalino Special Edition that Daniele sent me.
The felt is truly exceptional. Wonderfully soft and pettable.
Grazie, Daniele.

The last pics are of the band blocks my carpenter made for me and delivered today. They are exactly the same shape and size of the drawing Ignacio made from his conformer, and of the plaster cast I made of my head.
Now that I know he can copy the shape exactly, I ordered another batch.

Sweet is just the word I would use. When I first took it out of the box I immediately noticed how soft and flexible the felt is. Much thinner and finer than my Stratoliner Premier, similar to my Gannon beaver. The underwelt brim is neat and clean, and seems to have just the right amount of snap. I think that the Tobacco color is beautiful as well and will compliment my leather jackets nicely. It took a sloppy diamond crease dry although the dents popped out. Have a steamer coming tomorrow.
Thanks for the recommendation!

It took some steam from the tea kettle nicely.

Love the fuzzy and furry ones. I’m guessing that’s not the original ribbon?

Thanks Brent!
You are correct. The original ribbon was brown, and at the time I was not a fan of the grey and brown combo. Plus, the ribbon was not in the best of shape. This is the third blue one I've tried on it, and liked it best so it stayed. Plus, I think it was my first frayed bow attempt.

I prefer "bray." After all that's what jackasses do. And for some reason, I feel a certain kinship with jackasses.

But seriously... I don't know... there's almost an "eggplant" feel to the color. I just need to stop trying to define it and dig it. My hat's off to whoever came up with the idea for that particular dye shade.

And... I GonnaGettaGannon all in good time.
Cool color!
All jackassery aside, the color looks like an eggplant going bad, or maybe cooked liver...

I’m glad you’re not disappointed. The rich color is wonderful and you look good in it. I suspect This will be a collector’s grail hat in 60 years.

No half measures with you, Max! I love the band blocks. Moon turned me onto them but you’re taking it to another level. Excellent!

Well, if I am having my hats sort-of made-to-measure by Ignacio, I might as well make sure the sweat won't shrink over time. I dislike feeling pressure on my forehead when I first put a hat on in the morning.

I totally understand. They are also much easier on hats than hat stretchers.

I’ve been living vicariously through you a bit these last couple months and I enjoy your enthusiasm and your class. You’re the man, Max!

Nice find! Both the hat and the fungus.
Thanks Red. It was a good day on the trail and relaxing under the porkie. And come to think of it, I had pork, maitake and potato casserole for dinner.

I love a vintage pork pie and a lid with a back bow. The two in combination have me drooling. Nice hat Michael.

Thanks Steve. The porkpie was my only find from the Halloween section at Goodwill this year. On the hat front anyway. That is a super homburg you have going today. Whatta brim on that one. Ha ha.

Thanks all,
Michael

Best, Eric -
Eric, you know i love seeing this one. One of my most cherished hats. I believe it is one of the most pleasurable hats to wear. I have a couple Borsalinos that are right there too, but The Vagabond is just so light and caresses all it’s own. Thanks for the view. Your’s is perfect!
