Today....it’s a Bismuto Borsalino Featherweight, 2 3/4” very thinly felted bound brim with a crown that creases without objection. Interesting is the 3 cord ribbon and bow treatment. Bismuto is a hard color to capture transitioning from light gray to nearly charcoal depending on the lighting. All in all a nice comfortable lightweight hat.
Be well. Bowen
Fantastic. These lightweight Borsalinos are a dream to handle. Willow wants to be close to it too:)

Been thinking about you today John. How close are all these fires we have been hearing about? Are your hats safe? Oh, and you too...
Thanks Mike!
We (the hats and I) are safe from the fires. We're about 200 miles away. Just a lot more smoke than we are used to getting here on the coast. I just hope folks in the fire zones get out alive and unharmed.

Another great Hückel, Moe.
I've often thought that we should find another term other than "stingy" for these great shorter brimmed hats. Stingy, in my ears, sounds like a term for cheap. I know that's not what's meant.
Perhaps European brim would be better even though not absolutely historically correct.

Thanks Steve!
Some have suggested slim-brim. Hasn't quite caught on with the masses.

Not quite finished with this one yet. I still have to clean up the ribbon before I actually sew it back on and I still need to do a little more tweaking on the crease. I'll have more later in the Conversion Corral when I'm completely finished with it. This is a faded CA Quality Melton that a fellow Lounger sent me. I took it apart and completely reworked it. The fur felt quality may not be up there but I like the way it came out anyway. It reminds of a hat that a blue collar working stiff may have worn back in the day. Nice and casual....

Although not intended to be a replica, I drew some inspiration for this hat from the fedora that Charlton Heston wore in the movie, "The Greatest Show On Earth". I liked the over all appearance of Heston's hat in this movie...some things I didn't like about it, so I put my touches on the Melton refurb

Well done, Terry. I'd say you captured the spirit, without overt copying.

Wearing my new Stetson Flagship. Just picked my brother in law up at the airport, and I am on the way to leave six hats with Ignacio.
Fortunately, this Flagship just has a wrinkled ribbon. The size is fine.
