Thanks, B. Theres definitely some stiff competition, but great inspiration, to keep it classy here on the Lounge. It's a full length wool double-breasted London Fog overcoat made domestically. Not sure of the exact age, but it seems to be of good quality and keeps me warm during the Great Lakes winters. Fit is spot on too.

The coat was actually gifted to me 10+ years ago back when I was at university. This guy was sizing me up after Sunday services. While I recognized him and his family from before, I thought it was a little strange to get a stare down at church. When he approached me he says, "Hey, I have a coat that is a bit too small for me, but I think would fit you. I'll bring it next week. If it fits you can have it because it's just collecting dust in my closet." And the rest, as they say, is history.

As for the moustache, sadly my wife doesn't let me have nearly as much fun as when I was single. My only options now are pretty much fully clean or full beard. At university I was known as the man of a thousand faces. Moustache, goatee, soul patch, sideburns, mutton chops...you name it, I did it - Van Dyke, Fu Manchu, Frank Zappa, handlebar, etc. I grew my hair out and donated twice to Locks of Love. I may have looked like a d*** dirty hippie sometimes, but I had more women compliment me on how great my thick, wavy hair was than you could imagine. They'd ask what was my secret, and sometimes they'd get upset when I said all I did was rinse with water, shake it out, and let it air dry. Ahh, those were the days.

Now I'm just another middle-age guy rocking the suburbs, driving around in my Honda CR-V, taking selfies of my vintage hats from my dash mount cell phone. Next thing you know I'll be buying a leather jacket.

After looking at the serious front to back taper on this Kevin McAndrew Western, I decided to rework it...

Stripped down and on the block for a straight sided open crown
    [IMG]

Off the block and recreased into a Cattleman vs its original cutter crease. I also changed out the original ribbon for this matching colored 3/8 thin ribbon with an OR style bow

On the head from a few different angles

It originally came as a lower crowned Western with a more narrow three inches wide brim. I left it that way with the original specs rather than choosing to change it up and converting it to a fedora. I always liked these kinds of Westerns.

Now for some Rock A Billy tunes!

Such a beautiful hat! I enjoy your photos of the dealers of these hats. To me, it adds so much to the history of the hats. When looking at the stores where these were sold, it really gives one an appreciation of the original surviving hats of that era.

Thanks Red. I thought they played together well.

I'm still loving the Japanese market Whippets. Nice dimensions.

    Wow.

Thanks Stefan. The coat is fast becoming a favorite of mine. Love that coarse heavy wool/mohair or mohair fabric. I'm pretty sure this one was built to last for 3, or maybe 4, generations of hard wear.

    Fantastic. Great find.

Thanks D. The boots are Emu brand. So Australian sheepskin, though this particular model was made in China from Australian tannage. My feet become very sensitive to touch and cold during the winter and these boots are some of the few things I can wear comfortably. They most often stay in or around the house, but they have been downtown a couple of times.

    Thanks all,
    Michael
