There for a while I was buying almost everything that I found in my size. I’m selling off the hats that don’t see any use. I also have way too many hats that aren’t my size that I bought just to examine. I was north of 200 and my goal is to get it to fifty with a buy-a-hat-sell-a-hat “rule.” Aside from a collector’s viewpoint, I think 50 hats is enough to cover all my bases. It gets harder to thin them once the low hanging fruit is gone. I also added a couple hats to my “core collection” this month, and I’m thinking of getting another custom to go with the three I already have on order. I’m not pulling a Moon.

My number is 52. But that’s just felts. I currently have 20 straws. I think my self imposed limit will be 26 for straws.

I keep having to buy bigger safes for my hats, and my home office is really running out of room, so I think I should better stop soon.

I think I'll be good with about 45-50 felt hats and 15 straw hats. I have a few felts to sell, and maybe a couple straw hats, but I know of at least 4 or 5 custom felts I still want and another 3-4 straws...
