Nice Max. I didn’t realize you had two of those. That one looks to have a bit more brim.

I like how yours looks even better than I do mine. You really wear this hat well.

I’m not smiling as much as you, Jonesy! But thankful for this stiff moss bowler, and having shelter, on this incredible windy floody day.

Nice weather. Everything is melting. Dreaming of summer days. Decided to break out a old Akubra that gets little use the Down Under

I like Canada and Canadians. Too bad they're both so far from the equator.

I like this hat a lot, Max. The brim width and the crease just looks right; this style of western is much more versatile and approachable than your El Presidente and you wear it well.

Thanks, I again followed your lead. The weight of this felt is growing on me.

    This is a Dobbs.

Which model I know not. When I got it, almost 20 years ago, it had no liner, and the sweat was almost completely disintegrated. It had a black, wide ribbon with back bow. The brim had been hand cut with a scissors some time in its previous life. And it was too small. Other than that it was perfect. ;)

But the felt was (and is) pretty amazing. It's old enough, and of the quality that you can push any shape into it and holds perfectly. Older hats like this take sharp, well defined creases with ease. Then a little steam to set it and it's good to go.

As it was virtually unwearable I decided to experiment on it.

The first thing I did was remove the sweat, and then the ribbon.

I put a Hat Jack in it and pushed it out some. I didn't have another sweat handy, so I began to put the ribbon back on, but it didn't reach, as there was barely enough to reach pre-stretching.

I had some vintage grosgrain so I made a new ribbon and bow, and made a flying V instead of another back bow.

I pushed a tight pinch into the front, and a center dent up top, and wore it that way, as my 'house hat' for almost 20 years. Then, a number of years ago I pushed a diamond into it.

I've always worn this hat back on my head because it is a shade too small, and the proportions of the hat, and the brim shape, are exactly right for that 'at ease' look.

A few weeks ago I had gotten hold of some sweats and liners and installed one of each into this hat just after another stretching. Now I am proud to wear it outside the house, most often still pushed back on my head.

These pictures were taken with the hat straight up on my head so its features can be seen better.

That looks like it was hand-painted. Did you do it yourself? Wouldn't be too difficult to reproduce. Using water-colors, they could even be washed away if you don't like the result.
