I've never pictured myself in a boater, or contemplated purchasing one. I connect them too much in my mind to political party activities.
That looks very nice though, with the large dark ribbon.
Just what I need, yet another hat fetish.

I know what you mean. I never imagined buying a boater either. Suddenly, you see fellow Loungers wearing them, one pops up at a vintage/antique market, and hey presto, you're a proud owner of a boater

Excellent! And a great inspiration. I will be visiting a similar locale in early September. I wonder if it will be too late for a straw boater??

Here's hoping for an Indian summer, Alan. Your locale deserves to see one of your boaters.

The boater is safely packed so I've reverted back to the Mūhlbauer, which has served me well on this trip. Just hope my flight home is not further delayed.[IMG][IMG]

Just noticed, Chuck that in the profile pic, the stem of your designer shades spell out DoG pretty well. Just the way you planned it, I'm sure.

Stetson 3X Beaver, mode edge today. Really enjoying this very special hat.

Apologies for all of the KIN. I don’t know what that is but it seems like the the quickest way to get it off my screen is to give it to whomever the app suggested.!

Don't know the answer to that to be honest. It's a bit like the oilskin covering of liners. There's been some debate wether or not those were meant just for protection prior to sale and to be taken out after or not. Basting stitches (or oilskin covers for that matter) don't detract from the functionality of the hat. Leaving jacket pockets basted closed does, because you can't use the pockets.
