Somber day, indeed. Thoughts and prayers to you and yours in your home state, Jim. The same to those in El Paso this morning.

Somber morning indeed. Hearing the news on my public radio station this morning had me gulping air thinking of all the families and communities. Be safe all.

Early morning dog walk in a thin ribbon Adam. Minty hat worked to keep the fog and mist off my bald pate this morning.

Our weather is steaming up so I switched to a bolder ribbon treatment felted hat with a very spiffy mesh interior. This hat has a bunch of great characteristics. Some obvious and others not so much like the felt is very malleable. I was curious as to whether the mesh makes the hat more comfy (than the thin ribbon Adam above) to wear in this weather. Both hats are similar felt weight, brim length and very similar crown height. We shall see.

Dog walk this morning in a Stetson 3X Mode Edge. Very humid and the sheen you see on the sweat and the wet spot in back is all me. Last felt of the day. Straw if I venture out again. Doubtful.

I worked a little too hard in one of my Hopoka straws a week or so ago and got some stains in it and some wear and tear on the sweat. I gave it a bath, but there are still a few dark spots.

I think the straw came out of the bath quite a lot stiffer than it was when it went into it.

The crown is quite rigid now. And I seem to have the pinch off center. Ha ha.

    Very nice hat BIF!
Some very nice leather you’re sporting as well. Can’t resist a fine fedora, leather jacket comment! More in the leather jacket guy threads??

Thank, B. The few I have left don't get a lot of head time.

Yeah, waxes and wanes! Sometimes it’s good to break out from the “where’s your horse crowd” to the “Dick Tracy” crowd!
Long as we stay away from the backwards ball cap folk, they’re safe.

If you want to cause me harm at 1AM, you'll have to get me out of bed to do it. I fell asleep around 11PM in Round 11 of a 12 round boxing match.

Slight rain calls for my bullet proof Cabo Hilton palm straw. Wind doesnt move it and rain sluffs right off. It found me while vacationing in Cabo San Lucas a couple years ago.

Sorry, B. It happened at 1:00 AM. I'm generally not out and about at that time anymore.
