Such a cutey. At such a young age she already knows how to sport a hat. Nice going Allisen. Grandpa must be proud.

Autumn kicked in today, so it was a good opportunity to wear this chocolate brown, velvet Panizza Super.

Pup-pup and I are dog sitting our sons Australian Shepherd. And the Dude abides. I need to work on a few moth bites, Lonestar Dude has a big one at the crown and one big one under the front brim. Not really worrying about them as they add character to this already unusual hat, just want to pull them out a little.

That's a great Dude, dude [emoji4]. I really like the "forward-backward" shape of the crown.

Such a great shape, Ken! It looks great to me; whatever moth damage it might have can’t keep that hat down.

Greetings All:
Today....it’s a vintage 50’s Stetson RD and sentimental favorite of mine. It’s color defies capture and the faded ribbon gives rise to an ever changing contrast. The nicely appointed over welt treatment adds to it’s appeal imho. This hat was my first hat that “had the look” that clicked with me and it still clicks every outing.
Thanks go to Ed at Vintage_Toys_Comics for digging it out of the stacks!
Be well. Bowen

Abide on, Ken.
That's a great looking cattle dog.
The Sundance Kid doesn't have all that color in his coat.
Did they bring them into Texas as working dogs?
Those we get in Colorado seem to all come from NM. My daughter went to school in Australia, and I have a son in law from Oz. A friend of theirs told me Sundance looks like a Kelpie Cross, which his grandparents have on their sheep station.
Down Under the cattle dog Heelers and sheep dog Kelpie are considered distinct breeds. Both have dingo blood, but everybody denies it because of the historic bounty on wild dings.
I have a theory that Australian Cattle Dogs in the States are an indiscriminate breeding pool of both. Some breed more true to Kelpie, a leaner animal, others more true to Heelers, with a stocky chest and solid stance.
Kelpie Cross run across the backs of a flock of sheep to bunch them. Heelers jump in and bring bigger bovine to heel by nipping at their heels.
Our last dog, Johnny Ringo, was a "Cattle Dog" mix, but he really bred out more in the Kelpie build. He had no problem heeling cattle or horses though, which surprised the heck out of me when he spontaneously did it on occasion.

Great info on the aussie cattle dogs. This one our son rescued from the pound about 2 yrs ago all we know he's around 6 now. Excellent temperament and puts put with our little yapper very well. Outside they both run like the wind and pup-pup keeps up with him every step of the way. ;)

That RD definitely has the look Bowen, as do you. It most certainly clicks with me, too. Great ribbon size, style and contrast. Love the height and shape of that one. What's not to like? [emoji4]

You're absolutely right about those ribbons. Call it age, fading, patina, or whatever, but they take on their own personality.

One of my first, an Adam, was one I got from Ed. He still pops up in the hat section occasionally.

Nobody, i mean nobody can write a hat description like Ed. You’d think you were reading a love story. Made you want to buy the hat without even seeing it.
Hope you’re well out there Ed if you see this.

Thanks Hat. I got this one a year or two ago when it was auctioned off as NOS from a closed hat shop. It's not vintage, but not new either. Made in Canada. A very dense felt.

Thanks,
Michael
I have a couple Biltmore. Probably 70s. Nice hats. Well built, but a little dense in the felt, like you said.
It's kinda nippy in Canada. Go wonder, eh?

He's built like Sundance, but with a much prettier coat.

We don't have such things in Mexico City, Steve. Look, I am playing with Mishka on my balcony on a beautiful afternoon, wearing my Gannon and her hair on my PJs.
No autumn or fall here. That is for people who don't notice it getting colder the farther they go from the equator.
