I enjoyed my morning soirée under the brim of a Gannon Wanderer (granite beaver felt with charcoal trimmings).

After arriving home I enjoyed morning coffee. A Gannon Wanderer (silverbelly beaver felt and charcoal trimmings) was my hat choice.

Small yard chores completed under the brim of a VS. This hat was inspired by the venerable Stetson Stratoliner. This VS has the special dove hued felt.

Hats off today to those who left it all on the table for the rest of us.

My father was a corpsman in post D-day France. I don't know much more than that since he was never able to hold the big boy talks with me when I got old enough. Dad came back, as did all of my uncles, thank heavens, so today isn't technically his - that’s in November.

But he's my guy, and I visit him and Mom on this weekend every year. The peonies popped too early this year, so roses it is.

Tonak Iradon, mid to late 1950s. This is another hat from my May 2016 NOS Czech Find.

170th (1799 - 1969) Anniversary of TONAK (24 Years). Yes no mention of Hückel (146 Years) on the cover. Most of the book is a history of hats but there is a chapter on the history of the JHS factory. There is a good bit of propaganda but that is to be expected. Found this book back in 2015.

Finally decided to do some stretching and shaping on the Akubra Stockman. ( got here and it was A 58cm... im a 59) Now it fits closer to how it should, and sharpened the crease in front a bit. Just a bit of steaming an ironing on the brim to do, but its finally wearable View attachment 616859 View attachment 616860 View attachment 616856
Did a bit more work and posted a couple pics in the "what hat are you working on" thread. Got it shaped up a bit nicer and replaced the braided horsehair with a ribbon

2Ms on this Memorial Monday:
First up is the new-to-me Mallory aristocratic quality. I think this is from the late 40s and feels like it might have some wool in it.

Switched over to the Mayser Super for Memorial Day celebrations with the family. We are lucky to not have any family to memorialize, though we’ve a number of war veterans in the last few generations.

Hard to belive I don't have a Stratoliner yet. Still on the prowl. Lol

A new Strat (circa 2015) was my first “good” hat (other than a Royal Stetson that I inherited from my grandfather before I started wearing hats). I have since sold it because I was no longer happy with the quality after acquiring some vintage lids. The Strat block and proportions are a favorite of mine.

I'm certainly on the hunt for a vintage Strat the new ones aren't of too much interest to me.
