    Cyd Charisse Passes

RIP Cyd Charisse One of my favourite Golden Age actresses who passed away yesterday (17/06) http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3516902.stm As a tribute, here are two classic Charisse moments: The Band Waggon (with Fred Astaire) Singin' In The Rain (with Gene Kelly)

Strange Superstitions and The Superstitious Among Us

Not in the slightest, and I have an uncontrollable tendency to get into arguments with people about it. For example, a friend of mine didn't want her boyfriend to buy her a watch for her birthday because it meant their "time would run out." I told her to stop being ridiculous and take the damn...

    Finding a Vintage Career

I agree with Brad Bowers about creating your own opportunites - the career you want never just falls into your lap. Why not take inspiration from the people here at the lounge you mentioned in your post, and maybe a few others here who may be in a 'vintage' career. I thought Matt Deckard and...

    Makeup tutorial

Thanks for the foundation tip (using the smaller brush under eyes) I would never have thought of that! You look beautiful by the way - your eyebrows are amazing!

    Curly hair & pin curls

Another natural curly girl here! I blow-dry mine straight using a large round brush with natural bristles and use a curling iron to do my pincurls. I find the heat from the iron smooths out the frizz a bit, but that could be just my weird hair ;)

Fashion fads we love to hate

I don't think anyone has a problem with flip flops per say, it's just that flip flops are beach shoes, not general casual shoes, and therefore should be worn on the beach/seaside area. My pet peeves, in no particular order: 1. Leggings. I had to wear these as a child in the 80's and I hated...

    Favorite Authors

William Burroughs: just fantastically weird and shocking J.D. Salinger: Catcher In The Rye was the first 'proper' book I read and loved Jean Cocteau: sadly I don't have enough French to read the originals, but his storytelling is unparalleled even in translation Vladmir Nabakov: I still find...

    Sara Jessica Parker's Hat

I have no regard for SJPs (or Carries) style whatsoever, and really don't understand what all the fuss is about. And she really doesn't have the features to compete with a hat like that. Now Charlotte on the other hand... There's a wardrobe I love to raid!

    Vintage Ads for New Products

Wow, all those ads are really impressive! I especially like the Girls Gone Wild one... hehe lol That Cartier one could have easily been an actual vintage ad though, because Cartier diamonds aren't exactly a 'modern product'!

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

Dolly you are too cute! I like Crimson by Natural Collection, it's a nice bright red and not drying at all. I usually blot it, lock it on with Lipcoate and then put a red Natural Collection gloss over the top. Then I need only top up the gloss and the lipstick stays put all night. I used to...
