My favourite cut is Filet Mignon, cooked medium rare, and at least two inches thick.

I've been fortunate enough to dine at some top class restaurants, but the best steak I have ever had (by a country mile), was at "Shanahan's On The Green", St. Stephens Green, in Dublin. If you ever find yourself in this part of the world, then I can thoroughly recommend this establishment.

The best steak I ever had was an eland sirloin grilled over mopane wood in Zimbabwe. Sitting under the Southern Cross, watching the cook prepare it and sipping a glass or three of S. African red, it occurred to me that I really ought to die right then because it wasn't ever going to get any better than that!

The best steak I've had lately was a 10 oz filet mignon served with foie gras at Capital Grille in Dallas. Cooked medium, and it melted in my mouth!

I dislike fat or marbling, so a good filet is always my first choice.
