Epic battles were fought between the Wooly Beavers and the Woolly Mammoths, I believe.

One of the Wooly Beavers secret techniques was to gnaw through the Mammoth's legs while it was standing still. A three legged Mammoth is a much easier opponent to handle.

I would have bid on it, too, if hadn't just acquired the Stephen L. Stetson that turned out to be a 7 3/8 instead of a 7.

Wear it in good health!

Some more pictures of my Stephen L. Stetson. Seller claimed it was late 30s. What do you think?

Brim is 2.5", open crown about 5", inside circumference just shy of 23" (tagged size 7 3/8). The shot showing the underside of the brim represents the color best.

Could be... I might lean towards 1940s with the self felted edge and the empahsized "never connected..." language. Here is the text of a 1942 decision in the lengthy court battle between the Stetsons on this non-ambiguity issue, specifically about burying the "never connected..." copy in small lettering in print advertising.

It's a nicely styled hat... sorry it didn't work out size-wise. Hope you find something good in exchange.

That's a really neat hat, Rudie. Sorry about the size issue. Is that removable sweatband buttoned in? My Stephen L. Stetson has the same logo, and is a fine hat. I never bother extensively with determining the specific age of a hat-- I just like what I like-- but I have to admit sometimes I'm curious.
