That's funny you mention 250 because that was the absolute tops I was willing to go. I figured that those new strats go for 220 and getting a vintage one with the box would be well worth at least the same....even better that it is vintage.

My Campdrafts do that if they hang on my hat tree for long periods of time...
I dampen them with some distilled water then pinch them between my finger tips & pull to the ends.
That sort of "presses" the curls out. Warm iron works too but use handkerchief between iron & ribbon or felt.

Feltfan - don't feel too bad. As a 7 7/8, I can't count how many times eBay's expert sellers have burned me with 6 7/8 mistakes. I always get a tag photo now, or circumference # before I pay.

I bought a "project" Strat a while ago - exact same color. In the seller pics there was a clearly visible dark "band" around the crown, like on your Strat, though just about half as wide. I prepared for a massive naphta-attac, but when I recieved it, there were no discolorations to be found on the crown. It was also clear, that it needed a new sweat and a re-block, so I'll give it a rinse anyway - but it's not half as problematic as I feared, it would be. I believe, it was just some kind of a shadow/light effect in the photo setup.

Take a deep breath and relax ... let us know, when you recieve it ;)

Glad someone here won that. I was bidding on that same hat for my Husband, but stopped at about $180.00 and decided to leave it at that. Very nice hat, was the eBay seller's Husband's Father's hat and from what I was told, has not much head time on the hat at all. Had I won it, would have had to send it someplace to be blocked to a 7 1/2 size.

What a beautiful thought! Not many days ago I saw some loungers discussing the probability of sending "somone they knew" to "Wife School". I'm sure, they would find you the perfect headmaster of such a school :)

Doesn't seem like it would be so difficult to read a prominent size tag. This one wasn't
even under the sweat and was one of those cloth ones from the day. I am including some photos
for fans of unusual old hats.

Thank you for such dear and sweet words.

I have to say, within our household, both my Husband and I always reflect a higher amount of giving than what many people seem to think is "normal". It is just a part of a fantastic love we share with each other and are beyond just "equals". As you may not know, at the moment, my Husband is barely ambulatory as he is recovering from a long and almost fatal battle with one too many heart attacks, complicated from other serious issues with his health. But, he is gaining ground on all that even be it a tad bit slow. I have to keep in mind he needs to have as much "normal" in his life right now as humanly possible, and as such, I am the one that does normally find his hat deals, shoe deals, etc. and LOVE doing such.

There has been a return to my being as giving to him as I have always been, you should see some of the "over the top" gifts he has given to me from day one. We love to spoil each other! lol!
