Just got this Mallory Dallas in the mail today. Seller said it had "a few tiny divots." In reality, it's just covered with moth bites (which don't really show in the photographs, but boy do they ever in person). I didn't pay a lot, and it's otherwise clean and fits well, so I'm now faced with the dilemma of whether I should try to return it, or keep it and try to improve it a bit with a hat sponge or some fine grain sandpaper. Any of you guys have any advice?

I'll second Anthony's suggestions. Actually, I'd probably just wear it as-is. If anyone asks, just tell 'em those "craters" are very common on "moon felt"; they probably wouldn't know better anyway.gorgeous hat
hit it with a sponge or a light grit ... if nothing works then just wear it ... it's a wonderful piece
Thanks for the links Steve. Perhaps I will add this over in the British tread as well
They are "Dermotta". I would guess we bought them from the same person. Did Josh ever post anything about his?
Ours came from the Czech Republic. They went in pretty easy, although I cheated a little and used steam to first give me a good crease.
The photo of Garrett is him putting in the side dents he was after. There was some discussion around which way to best employ the clip, but I think we are both happy with it. I have a pretty big pile of vintage velours laying around, so I may have to work one out for myself. It's just too unique not to have in ones collection.
As always, thanks for the inspiration and great info!

My BGG CD finally arrived! This is my first attempt at anything other than a center debt fedora bash. It's supposed to be a teardrop telescope bash.
