How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Funny thing is that most of the vintage leather jackets I've handled were a lot lighter, soft and comfortable than modern ones and they can handle everything while most modern ones are as thick as armor or boot leather and people are afraid to wear them to death.
Not just jackets, but vintage shoes too. There's a bunch of factors behind this but it seems it's mostly due to reduced availability of good hides and the adoption of less polluting tanning processes.

Which is exactly why I stopped buying for a while.
I'm at the stage now where I need to start wearing stuff or get rid of it. Since I won't get much $$ for anything, I need to wear it. I just had a miss with a new overcoat so I have to simply stop for a while. Thinking logically or rationally about it for a moment, hard though that is to do, I can see adding one short leather or shearling jacket, but nothing else. But then one sees photos here, or sees something in a movie, and...

I am actually starting to thing that a leather shirt for warmer times could be interesting... any thoughts?

Just found one of these in my size on the bay. Had to. :)

They're certainly vintage now - Aero won't make any more, since Ken reinstated the "nothing that looks post-1959" rule. This one always looked to me like the sort of utility jacket I'd see on a character in Star Wars. Be interesting to see it worn when it arrives.... I don't think I've ever seen an image of someone actually wearing one.

It is all too easy to get precious about something we spend such big money on. At least for we less wealthy! The field of what is fashionable among jacket heads is really widening these days, compared to when I first started buying serious leather jackets, and it was all about noe-piece back and heavy hides. These days, it's more storses for courses. I put my own liiking for a certain level of robustness (no lamb, ever!) down to the fact that I cut my leather teeth on bike jackets in the eighties, when more powerful bikes and greater concerns about safety came into play, popularising heftier hides.

I am actually starting to thing that a leather shirt for warmer times could be interesting... any thoughts?

Never been something I've much fancied, but then in clothing terms, I only like leather in jackets, belts and boots. I've never been keen on leather trousers either.

Just arrived. Full opening and review later. One Black, One Brown. Both Horsehide. One made in USA, one made in Japan.

Unless someone is planning to send you free jackets you you might want to remove the picture or at least cover the addresses of the seller and yours too :D

I received my jacket today and it's a winner! Pics very soon

So... I need a lock-picker and someone with a truck. We're splitting the loot three ways and dibs on the Brooks. Anyone interested?

Well, I was actually serious about the removal of the picture. No good in thousands of lurkers seeing your address.

I was quite pissed today because for some reason the mail guy didn't bother to ring at home and ask for my signature or at least give it to me. He/she just left the package in the common area where anyone could pick it up and leave. They did put quite fast the delivered check on the tracking though, yeah sure it wasn't delivered to me.

Happened to me twice over the past 2-3 weeks, they must have changed delivery guys and I'm not happy about it.

I have had the same problem before with new jackets and other valuable items left on the doorstep in plain view of anyone passing by. I hope you were able to retrieve your jacket before somebody else grabbed it!
