Lovely shade of blue Ken. Looks like the felt is sweet as well. I like it!

Good to see you Fred! Whiskers and all. So, Stetson is available at Fredericks of Hollywood now?

Great lines on this Marathon. It does look more gray on my monitor though. I think the key is lighting and a good color balance on your camera/phone.

Are you going with a contrasting color ribbon on this one? It is so light, any color would stand out. Beautiful hat.

Redheads are always a blast, feisty, but a lot of fun. So furry!

Good to see you Harv. Not so creepy, more Halloween sinister maybe. Great hat.
I found a very light golden/yellow 3/8 grosgrain ribbon, a cream color of the same width, a couple of light brown 1 inch, a yellow, gray, midnight blue... Will see which looks best. Ignacio can't find vintage ribbon in Mexico, so I had to buy a small stock.

Looks good with that coat D, I like that straight crown. Nice Borsalino lines.

First wear of a new-to-me Stetson 3X Bat Masterson:

I'm really liking that brim curl Brent. A nice classy black hat, perfect.

Hey all!
Another perfect day on the Pacific coast. The trusty Gitmoe gets shade duty. Along with lots of SPF 50.

Have a great day!

We are really having some nice weather on the west coast this week. Good on you for not putting your straws away too soon like I did. Fun pug!

Took my Dunlap Supreme 4X to a center crease after trying a diamond for a few wks. Truth be told, I am diamond out! Original pics in the Dunlap Drive In thread.

This hat will take about anything & it has the specs for a nice tall Cattleman. That just may be how it ends up.

Isn't it nice to have choices in our lives. The center dent really works with some pinching. Cattleman is a classic.

Thanks Doug. It was a good day for hats and cold weather gear here.

Ha ha. I didn't realize until I got outside that I hadn't put my Iron Rangers on. So it was the Emu sheepskin boots that are currently my designated winter house boot. And they are certainly in the running for most comfortable footwear made. If not exactly stylish.

Thanks Stefan. I think these big mouton collared coats were designed to go with fedoras.

Ha ha, thanks Stefan. That was the first time wear for the red coat.

That Champ is amazing, Stefan. All of your choices are great, but that one is the winner.

Thanks all,
Michael
I love the ribbons on the Champ and Adam, they make a statement. That Gulaela is grand! Looks like excellent felt.

Thanks, gents.

Catching up on the last few days. Everyone looks great in these amazing hats!

Here’s what I sported around town recently:

Wormser with a super cool ribbon:

My dad is visiting and he’s wearing the Falcon Park I got him for his bday a few years back.

If anyone was wondering, yes, those are indeed coconut shavings falling from the tall coconut trees above my home. Not snowflakes, not snowflakes at all...

Have a great Saturday,

Cool hat, Michael. Pity about the staining on the ribbon.
In fulfillment of my promise to @Redfokker, and to maintain the momentum of custom lids and gills, another M&K Custom!!

Have a SUPER Saturday!!
That's the business, Charlie. Looks great on you.

With all the incredible Knox 40s, 50s, and 100s being posted and talked about lately it pushed me to pull out my best, a Knox 15. As nice as the felt is on this one, I can't nearly imagine how much nicer a 40, 50, or 100 can be... and I'll try and find out, someday.

This is a 7-3/8 LO and fits like it was custom made for me. The felt is super maleable and although it's hard to tell from the washed out pictures, the color is a rich whisky or bourbon hue, if you please. Felted, the brim has the Knox Custom Edge, a brim treatment I wish they would bring back.

Specs on this one are similar to the 100 @alanfgag posted about yesterday, too: 5-1/2" crown with a 2-3/4" brim and a 1-15/16" wide ribbon. The bow keep has that wonderful twisted accent to it that just makes me whisper low and soft: coooooooooool.......

Cool mornings, and I might switch out to a lighter shirt and hat in the afternoon, because - for Bob - were getting an entire week+ of sunny 70-73°F weather here. What an October!

Wonderful, Doug. There's something about those Knox hats I really like. And I'm a sucker for these twisted bows too.

A little chilly this Saturday. Borsalino today.

Thanks, Ken. The open crown is 5 3/4 and the brim is 2 3/4. If you flattened the brim you’d get about 3 1/4. The current hat is listed as a 5 1/2 crown, but beware that the current 4X version is buffalo wool felt and not fur felt. Another example of Stetson “Xs” not meaning much as my 3X is fur felt and the current 4X is wool.

It’s part of Stetson’s Old West Collection and is definitely more of a western hat, but I like it better as an oversized homburg. I’m sure Stefan @steur will shake his head at the crazy Americans always wanting things to be bigger. In fact, the current Stetson Sheridan would be on my Christmas list if it was fur felt and had a taller crown:

I don't shake my head that fast, Brent. If it works it works. While the brim is certainly wide for a homburg it's not unheard of. I have a Knox homburg with a 2 3/4 brim myself. This Bat Masterson still feels more like a western hat to me though. I think it has to do with the brim curve and the slight taper of the crown. Whatever you want to call it: cool hat.

My new Stetson Twenty Five OR today. It turned out beautifully. Bought a new ribbon for it last night, but I will have to pick it up in Texas in a couple weeks. The Texas-Mexico City Hat Trafficking Ring has expanded to ribbons.
BTW, I never imagined myself shopping for ribbons before, or washing, scrubbing, brushing, steaming and ironing anything.
My wife can't believe it.

Just wait till you start sewing, Max. Lovely hat; is the new ribbon going to have more contrast?

Thanks, Stefan. I was just teasing about you calling me out on it. It’s definitely keeping its western vibe along with some homburg flavoring. I find it easier to wear casually than I do a traditional homburg.

Yes I generally do that on difficult hats. And just like that it’s more blue. But I don’t like having to do such things.

My new hats pictures get the full colour calibration treatment to make sure the colours are accurate. Our phone camera's don't handle that kind of thing very well. For the WHAYWT-thread I have to edit my pictures anyway or they'll get displayed sideways, so I tweak the colour temperature somewhat.

Love that Bat Masterson, this is my poor man's version I fixed up awhile back. It's a Baily western homburg with a 5 1/4" crown and 3" brim.
