Ava and I went to check the critter cam. I’m wearing a new-to-me Bailey 100X. She resists wearing hats.

I like that they stacked up all those "X" markings around a 100. Cool sweat. I didn't know that Bailey made such a wonderful model.

Impressive Richard. Wonderful liner. Is the replacement sweat a recent addition or was it done back in the day?

Foggy Funkytown Friday. Had a Jones for wearing this vintage Stratoliner.

Happy Friday all!
Sent directly from my mind to yours.
Hope you had a great end to the week. That Stratoliner has a lot of class. Great color.

This hat was found by Stefan on the Northern European market, although it was sold in Genoa, so he deserves credit and thanks

Borsalino Marca Colombo. Size 6 1/2 or 7 1/2 US and 60 cm. in EU
Color is "Angico" which is a wood, no other indication on the paper label
It is a vintage Borsalino, probably from the 40s, in the immediate post-war period because some features bring it closer to the hats of the thirties
vfyzkj.jpg

The thin felt has a "mano pesca" finish that is velvety and soft, very malleable to the touch.
It has been carefully restored by Fleur of Penumbra Hats in Netherlands

I can tell you that it is one of my favorite Borsalino:)
Have nice Friday
Rich color of brown Daniele. What are the features that date this to the 1940s? Liner and sweat logos?

Today...it’s a short Willow watch shift. I went with a Blue Borsalino. Willow choose a translucent Yellow Tupper. I think she’s getting the hang of this thing!!
Be well. Bowen
She wants to be like Grandpa! Love the lines of that Borsalino. Is it Mirtillo?

Out for errands today wearing a custom Penman Steel.

Have a great day!

That Panizza looks to have some age to it based on the liner. Sure has nice lines.

Sorry to make you sad Bowen. They were showing up like we had an Ark (two by two).

Really cool!!

After looking at the serious front to back taper on this Kevin McAndrew Western, I decided to rework it...
Stripped down and on the block for a straight sided open crown
Off the block and recreased into a Cattleman vs its original cutter crease. I also changed out the original ribbon for this matching colored 3/8 thin ribbon with an OR style bow
Kevin-Mc-Andrew-Redo-3-A.jpg

On the head from a few different angles
Kevin-Mc-Andrew-Refurb-6-A.jpg

It originally came as a lower crowned Western with a more narrow three inches wide brim. I left it that way with the original specs rather than choosing to change it up and converting it to a fedora. I always liked these kinds of Westerns.
Now for some Rock A Billy tunes!

That one really turned out great. The difference in the taper just makes that hat! Now it is a true classic looking ORish clone.

Stetson select quality with bound upbrim, right around the market crash on the timeline, I think.

That cape/over coat is so cool Michael. The brown of the Sixteen Fiddy is sure versatile.

Such a beautiful hat! I enjoy your photos of the dealers of these hats. To me, it adds so much to the history of the hats. When looking at the stores where these were sold, it really gives one an appreciation of the original surviving hats of that era.

Thanks! What is interesting is Anton Seidl, the owner of the J. A. Seidl Hat Factory in Munich combined with Mayser Ulm back in 1914 and ended up saving / transforming Mayser Ulm. The Seidl stores in Munich were the flagship stores for Mayser Ulm. The the Homburg I posted today actually has a Hut Seidl München paper label even though it's a branded Mayser hat so made specifically for those stores.

My bluegrass band played tonight in Louisville. I wanted to wear the Moonstone Deluxe but I stuck with my theme of the week and went with the Cedar Brown Campdraft Deluxe to keep it casual.[emoji12] Fun night, but a late night. Sorry for the poor pics.

Hey Red:
Glad you are surviving remodel and research papers.
My blue Borsa is Pervinca or periwinkle. Somewhat more muted than Mirtillo.
It’s my understanding that Mirtillo is blueberry.

Thank you, Mike! The hat indeed does have specs that are very close to an OR.
