Very nice conversion. I'm always amazed at those Homburg conversions, they seem hard to do.
The only real hard part is resewing the binding back on, as you have to take it off to do the conversion correctly. Straightening out the brim with a steam iron, while not ruining the flange isn’t hard, but you could easily mess it up if done without care and a little bit of know how. Then, if the brim has an elliptical cut you must scissor off the brim to equidistant measurements all the way round.

Two very sweet hats, Shadow.
Unfortunately, most the time, you half headed guys must spend the whole head of cabbage for nice vintage lids like those. My 1/4 sized hat’s off to you and others here on the Lounge.
Nice suit, too. Mine arrived today
and it fits perfectly! Guess I got lucky! First time buying a barely used eBay suit that was originally made for someone else. They provided correct measurements. Looks great!
I’ll post pics when I get back home.

I've purchased a number of hats from intrepid thrifter Spencer Stewart over the years. I think this old Bulgarian sold nutria fur Barbisio is my favorite. It remains one of my favorite hats to wear.

Perhaps the nicest proportions I’ve seen on a hat of that style, Alan. Handsome hat. You wear it well and for those who ask, “can a hat of this style be worn casually?” See man in puffer vest above.

Wow. With the quality/quantity pool of antique vintage hats you could probably backstroke in, like Scrooge McDuck through his vault of gold coins, your opinion of that particular hat is...saying a lot!
(In no other way is this a comparison to you and McScrooge)
:)
