Resistol Alpine/Tyrolean
4 3/4 Crown
1 7/8 raw edge brim
Thick corded band

Another alpine/tyrolean hat... this one a Resistol with a rich fuzzy brown felt. A fair amount of moth nibs under the brim and a couple on the crown. But nothing too bad.... and besides the real star of this one is it’s super cool sixties liner!

And my beater Dobbs Twenty got the call for pressure cleaning duty. And a photo shoot on a pile of sticks drying in the back yard

That continues to be a great looking derby, Michael.

Back under my new old derby on a chilly morning.

I think tomorrow is the day for beard and hair shortening. Spring weather is supposed to start then. More or less.

A truly wonderful hat Eric

Thanks sir. It is enjoyable to be able to out and about in a tolerable cold temperature this past few days. Relatively a heat wave, or in fact a 40'f increase change from a week ago.

Thank you, gents, for the kind words and birthday wishes. It's been a good day. I raise a glass and tip my hat to you all.

Late to your party - Happy Birthday sir. I hope your special day found you celebrating with friends and family.

Cheers, Eric -

Thank you, Eric, for the kind sentiments. Pretty low key with just the wife and kids, but that's what really matters. Phone/text/FaceTime with the extended family and friends given COVID restrictions. Today (well, yesterday now) was good, but here's to a hopefully better and more normal tomorrow for us all in the near future.

This was a costly lesson. This is my most expensive custom hat and it’s one that I regret ordering. It’s exactly what I ordered, but it just doesn’t work like I thought it would from photos. The felt is FEPSA 100% beaver and nice, but not as nice as my best/most recent Gannons made from Winchester’s beaver felt. It’s also not as nice for my preferences as FEPSAs 50X felt from Hornskov. I talked myself into this hat, and in the three months I’ve owned it I’ve only worn it to try on. I’ve spent a lot of time shaping and reshaping it, and I’m sure I’ll reshape it again. Mikael of Hufvud is a good hatter and it’s a quality hat, but it just hasn’t won me over. There’s a lot I’d do differently.

Not sure the brim width will work but that one looks like it wants to be a homburg.
