What we wore for dress-up in Cheyenne, Wyoming around 1900.... a formal western hat with fancy silk ribbon and silk wrapped underbrim that becomes the edge binding on top. Not a hat you run across every day of the week.

That is a stunner. I’ve seen fabric under the brim before - Hornskov do it. But never where the fabric becomes the brim binding, and never quite as classy.

Stetson Royal Deluxe Open Road. An all time favorite.
I got this on eBay a few years ago. A VERY lucky find. It popped up on a Buy it Now for real cheap, It was only up for a few minutes when I made my move. These are hard to come by (or very expensive) in my size. It's got some mileage on it, but a little patina is good.
RD might be my favorite felt of all of my OR’s, Rick and seem to be a lucky find no matter the size. That one looks great on you.

It's hard to describe how good that hat looks. Thanks for sharing and keeping another old one alive.

Lovely hat, Don. I really like those unlined ones.

Love that underbrim coverng.... That might be perfect for rehabbing hats with moth damaged or stained brims!
