Days off to a good start ( clean dog and its NOT raining) Today up top is an Adam Premier open Road-ish hat. Felt was in great shape but the sweatband was totally rotted and the plastic liner cover was a crusty dark brown. Kind of suspecting the previous owner used a coal tar hair grease. Removed the liner cover to expose a beautiful black liner that was pristine. New soft lambskin sweat and its back in circulation. As bad as the staining and rot on the original sweat and liner was, its amazing that the felt was still perfectly clean. Felt on this one is exactly as received.... I haven't even steamed it... Sometimes you get lucky

Thanks brother. The Dobbs Fifteen is on a truck heading to Atlanta from Florida. That's all I know right now, but you can bet I am tracking that thing 4 or 5 times a day!

(Edit: tracking just updated: it's in Murfreesboro, TN. It's coming FedEx so maybe Saturday delivery? I don't dare to hope for tomorrow... )

It looks really great on you. Very good proportions. Congrats on a great hat!

Thanks Voo!
Murphreesboro is not too far away. Wouldn't it be a nice Christmas surprise if it shows up today? Not trying to get your hopes up, but it could happen.

We have the same felt maker as the hat from the other day: Matthias Hutter of Merano, South Tyrol.
HUTTER Miele 4.jpg

This one was also made like a Tyrolean hat, less pronounced than the previous one, but that was the original shape.

Fleur of Penumbra hat features a jaunty ribbon and a shape that differs only slightly from the original.

The felt is a magnificent "Miele - Honey" color with a very short fur finish, very soft and malleable.

I still buy hats that interest me for the type of felt and then look for a shape, through the work of a hatter, that is compatible with my tastes.

Even though it's increasingly difficult...
You're always so kind with your compliments, and I congratulate you on the quality of your hats.

Doh! Don't do that to me! :D

Actually, I have resigned myself to a Monday delivery. As I understand, it has to be transferred from FedEx to USPS for final delivery. USPS might just decide to fly it to Guam for a laugh.

Btw, what's the word on your Gannon?

On October 17 he was two months out. I'm in queue with money paid down so I have given him space to work. But I check my email about 60 times a day to see if there's anything from him lol. I'll be stepping out of my comfort zone a bit with this one. It'll take some time to build the confidence to wear it out and about, but I've been down that road with other hats and it has worked out fine, so no fear.
