Green Blazer black trousers 001.JPG

Tina & I are in the stressful throes of moving house. We had a meeting at our agents office earlier this morning. Seeing my lady looking like she had stepped off the front page of Vogue magazing, I couldn't let the side down.
Following our meeting we arrived back at the temporary address that we are currently renting and on Tina's suggestion, the collar and tie was replaced with one of the Aloha shirts that my lady made for me.

The black bespoke Susquehana is so versatile, both formal and informal. The trousers that Tina made are equally versatile and just go so well, complimenting the Susquehana perfectly.

You have spoken so highly over the years of the Susquehanna (custom made) as well as the Gamble and ***n hats that you own, that now that Susquehanna has been bought and subsumed by Gamble and ***n, I took a chance to sample both with one hat purchase.

Gamble and ***n reached out to me to make sure I was aware that they were now the same company and asked if I had an issue with the branding. When I told them I did not, they sent me a fine black one which I believe is now known as the Susquehanna hat by Gamble and ***n.

It's been a hot minute since I've been on here. The new job has kept me busy 24/7. I am finally on the homeward journey after running 10 weeks straight.

At home, I'll be switching out the three hats I have. I plan to switch the beaver Northwest Hats, the JBS 25 and the Akubra Fed IV for a beaver Gannon and a Stetson straw (or maybe an Akubra hemp, haven't decided).

Hopefully I'll have more to share next week when I'm home and have more interesting lids to wear. Here are a few photos I've been able to take the last few weeks - I have barely had time to sleep, let alone take photos.

Happy Sunday to all.

Gamble & Gu-nn have never disappointed since their aquisition of Susquehana. Both companies, before and since, their merger, have an excellent customer service. Whatever you purchase they make you feel special, it's something that the large conglomerates could take a lesson from.

So Jeff, when can we look forward to seeing you wearing your new black hat? You are going to tell me that you already have, are you not? Old age and amnesia are common bed fellows. Take a tip my friend, don't get old.

I will have it for this evening and tomorrow to show off.

That's the Sunday brunch of hats. Like it.

Great to see you posting!

Nice to see you back on here, Nathan. Don't OVERDO the work, OK? And kudos on a very interesting variety of lids!

Thank you gentlemen. It is wonderful to be home and to be back in the land of four-wheelers. I was out for ten weeks, which is at least four weeks longer than is healthy without a break.

First hat on my head was this wonderful Dobbs fifteen.

Akubra Campdraft getting a bit of a rough trip in China for a conference. Holds up remarkably well although the crease has taken a bit of a ‘natural’ shape, and an ad hoc centre crease to raise the crown helped keep the heat off noticeably better than a teardrop, especially with the liner removed.

Perhaps not as warm weather comfortable as straw but definitely robust enough for travel. View attachment 792193
I think that looks outstanding!

Heading over to College Station, Texas today for lunch with some old service buddies. Warm and muggy so out comes another Stetson Hemp for the day. This one an Open Road. I flattened out the brim curl on the front half and knocked a bit of LBJ off of it lol

As a side note, today in my little hometown of Crockett, Texas is the 189th birthday of Houston County. The first officially organized county in the Republic of Texas in 1837

VERY much like how you've shaped this one, Rick.

White Optimo "Capone" kicking around the house in the middle of summer yet again lol. This is my whitest hat. I have no idea what practical use I will have for this hat; I just think it's cool. :)

This is my attempt a slightly different bash than what came in the box. I'm not particularly good at this. The pinch was wider in the front and I didn't care for it. I start with a center dent basically, because that's easy and what I'm used to, and then try to get the pinch close to what I want. It kind of morphs into more of a tear drop shape because of the way my pinch comes out.

This hat has a very specific shape in the marketing photos, and I may try to replicate that shape for practice at some point. What do you guys think?

The dang earbuds make another appearance - at least they match this time lol

The way it came in the box is probably closer to the marketing photos; as you can see the pinch is very broad. I wish I had photos of this hat from different angles.

I think you chose wisely in narrowing the pinch. To me, it makes the hat look more like an actual piece of REAL headwear, as opposed to the somewhat "costume-y" appearance it had when stock.

I bought this Doria Panama a couple years ago...it's been a diamond crown with lots of rake, a tear drop, today a simple center crease.

Last week I saw a Croched Raffia fedora in a boutique on the Turkish Riviera. I remarked to my wife that İ thought it look hip, like a bohemian panama alternative. The weave was stamped from Madagascar and the hat was produced in Paris at La Chapellerie De Punta En Blanco. My wife really thought it looked like me.

Next day she comes home with it!!!

It really needed a reshaping...here it is after a couple hours of steaming and as my wife says, "Hat Whispering " View attachment 792296 View attachment 792295 View attachment 792294 View attachment 792299
I don't know what it looked like to begin with, but you've definitely reached a very positive end result. I think it looks great on you.

Robert, I am becoming convinced that you could wear a burlap sack, and look elegant! Both your dressed-up, and dressed-down modes today, are awesome.
