I worked in a Sinclair station in high school. Was supposed to be a "pump attendant," but ended up doing a little of anything which needed to be done, including minor repairs. My favorite part of the job was riding with the wrecker driver when we went on calls.

Thanks for the info. As I was reading your post, it occurred to me that I had seen that information about Airplane before, probably on TCM, one of my favorite movie channels.

I could probably look this up on IMDB, but I'm sure someone here knows the answer. What was the movie which starred Sterling Hayden and Dana Andrews? Andrews played a former flyer who had to land a passenger plane after the pilots got sick, and Hayden was the senior pilot who talked him down...

This is probably my favorite Sterling Hayden role, simply because he wasn't known for comedic acting. He played it straight which made it even funnier.

I'm partial to fine-point stub nibs, too. They seem to add a touch of elegance to plain, everyday writing. The finest nib I have is on a Pelikan 200 I bought in West Germany about 25 years ago. It's .2mm. I haven't seen one that fine in years. Keep practicing. Your penmanship will improve...
