Organized sports for little kids. What's wrong with just letting them play their own games by their own rules on their own time? When I see a six-year old tee-ball player being yelled at by an overbearing jackass of a Type-A parent, I want to go after said parent with a fungo bat.

Another vote here for the riddance of organized sports for kids.
My son played basketball for a few years in junior high. He enjoyed himself and was part of a good team with a coach that loved the kids. However....the behavior of the parents at games totally disgusted me. We sat through games where parents booed, hissed, and made derogatory comments at the children on the other team.
Cheering for your team is fine but belittling the other is despicable.
I lost no sleep when my son decided to not go for any high school team sport.

As a kid there was nothing more fun than gathering at the park or schoolyard on a Saturday for an impromptu football or basketball game.

Rue I have a 50yr old sister that knows most of them because she texts a lot to her daughter.
Well I guess she has to keep up with her somehow.
What's funny is that my sister will say "did you get my text, I sent it to your phone?" Uh no I don't do those, better call me. I get the strangest look from that statement.
Yeah, child beauty pagents on tv are a "fad" that needs to leave.
I have a cousin that was one of those kids growing up, her mother pushed her into it.
Now? She's married with a child on the way, but isn't a Ford model, or any other popular agency.
Her "childhood" years gone because of that.

Technologically speaking, Edsels were really ahead of their time. I tried to buy one when I was 16, but my dad talked me out of it. Still haven't forgiven him lol

I will be happy when "vanity" publishers are no longer in existence. Some books just should not be!

Sounds like you've had some experience with these vanity publishers. The most egregious of them all is an outfit called PublishAmerica. Do a Google search and there are whole blogs, websites and forum threads about this sorry crew.

Oh there's worse. Betascript repackages Wikipedia articles and then sells them. And they really are nothing but Wiki articles, some of which are only tangentially related to the supposed topic. Example:

There's a ton of these parasites. I truly loathe them. I saw one today. A children's book that on the first page announced that Lexington was the capital of Kentucky. I dislike the authors also, just on principle. Of course, normal publishers can raise my ire too. Had a book on Arlington National Cemetery for children. On the cover... the Marine Corps memorial (aka Iwo Jima Memorial) which the last time I checked, is not inside Arlington.
Perhaps what I need most is the return of proofreaders and copy editors.
