Here's an interesting one that I just received.

The figure appears to be a Kokopelli.

Stamped Sterling .925 & made in Mexico

Hey Sean, Not that it's any big thing, but I think your ring has an image of an Aztec warrior as opposed to a Kokopelli. http://www.galleryhistoricalfigures.com/Figurefull.php?abvrname=AzLeoWar_v2WA A Kokopelli is a flute player and part of the Hopi culture. The figure on your ring has a club in his hand or it could be a dangerous looking flute. There's also a strong connection between Mexico and the Aztecs.

Crazy question but an eBay seller says these rings cannot be resized do to the metal content,is this true? If so that doesn't explain the prices for a smaller sized ring.

Hi wsc, I have a lot of these rings, and have aquired a few that were previously sized somewhere in their lifetime. I personally have never re-sized any of mine in fear of them cracking or not being resoldered properly by a jeweler.

The ones that I purchased already re-sized were done professionally using sterling silver as a spacer/seal. I'll try to snap a photo of one for you if your interested.

I just purchased these three rings (see attached) off of Craigslist. The seller wasn't able to provide much history, so I cannot say with certainty whether or not they are authentic. Regardless, this group seems to appreciate the history and aesthetics of these rings, so I thought I would share.

On the inside of the rings, one is stamped with "Made in Mexico", the second has no stamp, and the third has "[can't make it out] Mex". Based on this group's collective knowledge, do these stamps (or lack thereof) help determine authenticity (other than the obvious fact they would be made in Mexico)?

Rockabilly, In response to your offer to buy 2 of the 3 rings (skull and indian), I am not saying "no", but I have to say "not at the moment". These are still new to me, so the excitement of having them and researching hasn't worn off yet. I will definitely let you know when I'm ready to sell to see if you are still interested.

Generally, through my research, I hope to learn more about the history, variations of design, and factors to valuation, as well as simply (and probably most importantly) enjoy them for what they are.

Nice! I chanced across SWS at Rhythm Riot last month, and impulse bought a couple of his rings. A skull and crossbones style, and an Indian head. Certainly not office-wear(!), but they look great alongside my Keith Richards skull ring (which used to look big until these monsters dwarfed it). I love cuhnky, weighty jewellery.

Incidently, he reckons we're going to see a lot more interst in this sort of ring soon, as apparently (I've not seen it yet, so can't confirm) Pitt's boys in Fury wear these. Supplied by a friend of SWS.... all originals.

Nice... Jaw buster is right. I always assumed that part of the attraction of these for outlaw bikers was/is that they could function as a fairly effective knuckle duster if needsbe, without being something you could be lifted for carrying...
