Thanks,

Sacketts Western Store in Jasper used to carry Beaver Brand fedoras.
Horse Town in Marietta has western hats.
There was a shop near downtown where the APD Hat Squad got their hats...have to look that up again.

Hello. Joined the forum because I've always appreciated fedoras. Now I have the opportunity to buy and wear some now that I can wear my suits more often.

I picked this one up at JCPenney, because I couldn't find anything else.

Ordered this Jaxon Crushable from TVH, and annoyingly it has a bit of a blue tint.

Going to have lots of questions going forward.

Stopped at Sacketts today in Jasper. I met a kind 86 year old gentleman named Dave who was an official Hat Maker. I think he is part owner. We had a great chat. They had a total of four fur felt hats, all 7-5/8, too big for me.
The rest were either cowboy or wool.
Dave did say that they received a new catalog from Stetson and is expecting to place or get a stocking order from them. Dave said they could custom fit me once we gt close with a standard sze. With good felt and their equipment, Dave said it would be easy.

Only problem is he doesn't know if they will get any product. I'm going to stay in touch and will post the resuts here. Dave is a really nice guy and I would like to do business with him.

Glad to know Dave is still there & working. He had a nice hat shop on the Roswell square before his health made him shut down. He has lots of stories about LBJ & his hats. He used to carry a good many Open Road styles by Beaver Brand & I was interested in what he was stocking now that they shutdown.

Hey all, finally introducing myself. I've been lurking for a bit; now that I have a couple of hats, I might as well make my presence in the forum official. I'm from the Boston area, and I'm bald. So I wear hats for about 8 month"s of the year. I just recently got into wearing fedoras because I found knit caps just didn't look professional enough; I now have 2 new Stetson fedoras and am looking to expand into some vintage hats. I only started wearing fedoras a few weeks ago and am already starting to get all sorts of compliments, including a co-workers and local vendors labeling me as the "hat guy." It's good to be part of the crowd.

Welcome in! You're definitely off in the right direction. Here in our fair city we have a couple of resources. I'm hoping they will reschedule the "Early Bird" sale of YESTERDAY, (remember the snow?) but either way, Salmagundi on Centre St. in Jamaica Plain is great to visit.

Again, welcome DRCube.

Hate to break it to you, but I was at the early bird sale at Salmagundi. The place was packed, so I wouldn't expect a reschedule.

Hi there, I been lurking here for some time and learning about hats, owning a mash up of them, almost all cheap though, I'm looking forward to learn even more.
Originally from Guadalajara Mexico. Living in the Los Angeles area for more than 30 years now, I call The City of Downey home.
I now own 2 vintage Stetsons, a late 40's Green/Grey Stratoliner acquired at E-Bay from fellow lounger Mr. D. Holliday and a 50's Stetson 25 Open Road also from the big E, recently pulled the trigger on a VS piece of Art and currently waiting for it, as well on a vintage fabric 8 panel newsboy cap by Johnny Cordova, got a Cuenca fino blocked by Tom Gomez from Panama Bob that will be dandy for the summer time, and I'm known to sport a cowboy Stetson Skyline just for the joy of it.

Greetings.

Hello. Great forum. I'm not a hat "collector", and have actually only been an avid "wearer" of hats for the last several years. But I've always had an "awareness" because it seems like my dad only took his off to sleep in. Until he passed back in '97, he'd never leave the house without one. I've attached a pic from his flying days, and there he is, on the right, fedora on head. Unfortunately, his head size is about a 7 and mines 7 1/4, so I can't wear any of his...but my son can and may someday. He's still in the cap age. But I have a couple or so I'll show, including one of dad's Dobbs from probably the 60s. In the meantime, I'll try to figure out all the stuff one can find here. Cheers.

Wow! It's been ages since the last time I was around, so just thought I'd introduce myself again

So, Henry (Enrique really, also known as Kaonashi and Henry Potter), 30, mexican, tall and skinny, accountant, ), part time teacher at my local university, and, of course a hat collector.

Mostly i collect military visor hats, eventually expanded to uniforms too, and of course i like hats, got a couple fedoras now and I'm planning to get more (hopefully).

I enjoy meeting new ppl, always looking for someone i can chat with, so feel free to contact me if you too wanna make new friends.

Hello. My name is Jay. . I am not much of a hat wearer, I only own two but I registered on this forum because recently I decided to have a hat made, near cowboy style. And in the searches I've had in the last 2 or 3 months to look for answers to my questions, this forum always pops up as one of the top results. Doesn't matter if its a question about any kind of hat in general, The Fedora Lounge is always there. So I've gained some knowledge from this forum, which I wish I could thank each knowledgeable person, but I'll just post it here. Thanks! Thanks to many of you, I didn't know hats can really make one look more dashing. haha! So who knows, I may convert to full time or something! :D I also have one question which I hope someone will be able to answer when I post in the "Ask a question, get an answer" thread. Thanks again! :)
