What makes me curious BB is that this comes just a couple wks after I was told by the supplier in CA that they can only ship in CA & into OR right now because of the shipping backlog of UPS & FedEx. Sounds like BS to me.
Sometimes Licenses can be suspended if a business is behind paying their payroll taxes, etc. Licenses are reissued when they pay up. I'm hoping it's just something like that (in both cases), being a new yr & all. But I do feel an ill wind blowing.
How does the Lonehand stack up?
I’m no whiskey/bourbon connoisseur... but we Really enjoyed the Lonehand. It came highly recommended by the dept manager at the Total Wine. A mellow taste. Little to no burn.
Me either, just all white. That one looks like it was painted with magic markers.
Since you had some orders shipped for delivery but lived in the state, I didn't know if you would received the same email or not. I had 5 mixed case orders with them just in Dec, I think.
Fine Whisky is just another thing to collect & enjoy.
His recommendation reminds me of a time when I was invited on a wk long fishing trip business deal to Lake Fork, TX. A TX vendor had invited about a dozen guys from around the country, we all stayed together in a fishing resort & paired up with fishing guides every day. At days end when everyone was back in, the guides would stop & fuel their boats for the next days fishing, then take us to the resort.
Yup very often the case. This particular gentleman has given decent advice in the past. And at least if he was pulling some of that here. it was at a good price. Of course the more expensive stuff they let speak for itself
I have been curious about Islay. This may be a good starting point. Planning a beer restock trip this werkend, may take a look at the Scotch!
Typically Islay's tend to taste peaty, smoky, & salty. They have an oily & medium thick mouth feel, leaving oily curtains in the glass. My favorites would be from Lagavulin or Ardbeg. The Laphroaig's have strong tastes of medicinal alcohol & iodine, not favorites to me. Laphroaig Quarter Cask isn't bad. Non typical Islay's would be the Bunnahabhain's & Bruichladdich's but I have no experience with them. If need be it's ok to add just a drop or two of good water, no more than a half teaspoon at most. You ruin it if you drink it OTR.
