My college made this hairdo today at beautyschool, she has her exam in may so we have to practise a lot, but for a first try it looked cool,
she actualy made fingerwaves in the front, it's a shame you can't see it in the picture

*Sigh* You look stunning, Antje! I can see you in a beautiful long evening dress strolling across the deck of a ship...

Antje--that's a first try? Wow! I'd love to see the results after she practices.

I was wearing a small snood. My hair fit just fine, but it looks like you have a lot more hair than I do!

I was running late for work today so I didn't have time to properly set my top curls and I ended up just pomping it. I am unhappy with the top, but I love wearing the bottom curls with it held back by combs.

Also, because I was running late, I didn't snap very good photos of my do.

Miss Hannah, I'm a fan I love this hair do!!! How do you put your eye liner?? I mean, the line is perfect!! To have this result I have to take a lot of time!! Plus I always think that my left eye is different...
:rage:
Lolita, I really prefer your hair shorter, it's suits you amazingly!! It's really authentic!! You seem to be out of a 1940's magazine!!! (sorry I don't know how to say it in a good english lol!!)

pennycarrol, you said it just perfectly!
Once again, Lolita you look stunning. And I agree with pennycarrol--just like a 1940s magazine! Great job!

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeautiful !
Maybe try backcombing some of the underneath to give it a bit more staying power so it doesn't flop .

I think I used a bit too much hair and it wouldn't curl under properly in the centre - hence the 'split'!! I'll try the backcombing - I never really backcomb as my hair is so thick, but I'll give it a shot on your advice... But then you know I was trying to copy one of your do's don't you Blondie?! ;)

Miss Hannah, I mostly get "splits" because of my part! Either that or I'm just lazy about combing it out first. ;) But yours looks great!

These are some of the best pictures of my everyday look - front hair in rolls, back hair down and in varying degrees of curl/wave, depending on when I last used the curling iron. I think I used the curling iron the day I took these pictures.

What kind of rolls are these called? At times, when they get away from me, they start looking distinctly Gibson Girl. Not quite as 1940s as I'd like. But I've got a long face and a wide jaw, and I need width and not height.

This is a very poor example of how I've begun putting up my hair in back. After a long day, or when it's being not-curly or fuzzy, or the weather's windy or hot or wet, I love to get it off my neck and shoulders. I fold and roll the whole length into a solid roll at the nape of the neck. Then I use two pins, one on each side, to anchor it. I never use a mirror. This is a horrendously messy example, because (a) I didn't have a comb and (b) I was in a tearing hurry at choir practice.

The pins I just found at Walmart - I've never seen anything like them before. They're just over 2" long, have a curve for spring on one end. One prong looks like the straight half of a bobby pin, while the other (outer) side is just a long flattened loop with tortoiseshell pattern. The spring is extremely strong, and when two are X'ed together, they hold all of my heavy hair up for hours without sliding.

This is my "lazy" look at the moment, but it does need the front rolls first.

I was really proud of this but the pictures so dark you can't really see it. I rolled the front section forward and sort of pushed the hair in frortn of the roll up. The sides are just rolled back.

I have alwas wanted to wear ribbons and I think this doesn't look to young. I wore my hair like this to work and didn't get any complaints.

This updo didn't come out like I wanted it to.

Audrey_Horne... Thank you. I was really shy about using combs because I didn't want to have to rely on them, but I think they give me a more authentic late 30's ealry 40's look concidering how thick and poofy my hair normally is. :)

HepKitten... You are too kind... but by the looks of your hair in your icon, you already have the ideas and know what you need to do!

PennyCarrol... Your english is wonderful! Thank you. I really appreciate that you said that. I see so many gals who have the authentic look that I get doubtful of mine sometimes. Thank you thank you! You made my day!

BonnieJean... You are the best! Gracias!

Pamina... Thank you! I happen to pick that mirror up for 1.50$. RedHotRidinhood said it is a vanity tray and/or mirror. :) I don't have a vanity yet, so I hung it up as a mirror and love it!

Blondie... Thank you thank you!

MissHannah... I feel your pain with that split. I get that too sometimes. :( I just spray the heck out of it and pretend it doesn't exsist! Hah!

Antje... Thank you so much. Hehehe I think I like the mirror betterthan the hair! Hahahaha

Sunny... I love your pinned up do! I am far too lazy to try that style myself.

DeadpanDiva... Ribbons are my FAVOURITE!!! I like them far more than flowers!! I think the ones of you with the ribbon in yor hair looks very 30's!!

Now for something completely different. RedHotRidinhood and I were asked to model some clothes for a tv segment here in AZ on mid-centry modern. I don't know what got into me, but when I heard this I thought the most brilliant thing in the world would to go as Samantha Stephens and Endora from Bewitched! I did our hair and makeup and even now I am tickled with the results!!! Thank goodness everyone loved us as much as we loved us! Hahahha
