Darhling - Thank you!

limetree - lovely curls! If you try brushing it at day 2 with a big round brush, as per Pidgeon Toe's instructions, you can wear it as a pageboy. I often do day 1 curly, then day 2, softer, sleeker waves.

Here is me today. I woke up early to bake a cake before work, so whilst it was in, I thought I'd try rolls. Well, I looked like a Teletubby, so I re-rolled in a much flatter method and ended up with this.

I did the same set yesterday with large-to-medium hot rollers and it worked well and actually stayed despite some heavy winds. Regular hot roller curls don't always hold on me as long as Hot Sticks curls do, but I guess my hairspray was feeling cooperative. The Conair Superclips left a few minor dents here and there, but I managed to erase them with a lightly dampened fingertip.

Today I thought I'd experiment and try the PT pageboy set with the dreaded "two Hot Sticks at once" technique to get a larger curl. I've been putting off attepting this for fear of singing my fingerprints off, but I must've developed true Hot Sticks dexterity over the past year 'cause it was dead easy. Looks good so far and required less brushing than the single-Stick method--time will tell how it holds up throughout the day.

This was my inspiration and
this was my result.
I know my hair is getting way to long for most styles, but I can't let it go.
I set my hair in barrel curls at night then used my big curls setter in the am.

so this is my first ever attempt at vintage style hair, well any style of hair as i never do anything to it. i got the rolls done pretty well, apart from the stray hairs i couldn't be bothered cleaning up. my main problem is what to do with the rest of my hair, it's pretty short in weird places due to apprentices being told to try crazy things on me, it's shorter one side than the other and has short bits around my ears that get in the way of this style.

any tips? i have a feeling you are all going to say pins curls but i don't think i'm up to that yet. will straight sides and back look ok? it's my birthday tomorrow and i'm considering surprising everyone with interesting hair, my best mate even made me a forties inspired dress to go with it.

I know you posted this waaaaayyyy back in this thread (like okay, page 7 or so) but my hair looks quite similar to the cut you have here, and your hair looks adorable! I've had a horrible time trying to get mine styled vintage and I've got to come up with something.

It looks like your rolls are not rolled "up" (towards the scalp) but away from it. Also it looks like you clipped your bangs back and did a side roll on top of it. I would love to try this, it is darling! Can you tell me how you did this? Or can someone else perhaps look at this and give me some advice?

Thanks Red, Darhling, and Desi!!! I did do the color myself, with a cheap-o highlight kit from the grocery! I am so excited because I can finally be blonde and pay my rent! lol lol lol

First attempt with a marcel wave iron

It's a bit sloppy

My hair is a bit long, so it was kinda hard for me to get it all even

Then I wasn't sure what to do with my hair when I was donelol

I just put it back down and stuck a bobby pin on the side

I was also trying to do my make-up 1920's style but let's just not go therelol

Thanks, and of course I will share!!! I used Loreal "Frost and Design" for blonde to dark blonde color. It comes with a cap, so I did crown and face-framing highlights with the cap, then I touched up roots and made some bolder streaks "freehand"!!

p.s. the cap = not hot lol lol lol

Hellppppp!

Hello Lovelies,

I need some opinions. I don't know how up you may be on your Dr Pepper trivia, but are any of you familiar with Pretty Peggy Pepper? There are very few pictures online of her for me to show you. In short, she was a fictional advertising character for the Dr Pepper at the beginning of US involvement in WWII (Feb. '41- Apr. '42) She was in advertisements and comic strips, and a young woman named Peggy Ellis made appearances in her likeness for special events.

Long story short... I'm an employee at the Dr Pepper Museum, and I portray Ms. Pepper in first person for special events. We haven't been doing this very long, and we're still working out some kinks.. especially the hairdo. Here's the hair we've been working with

Visiting the White House Press Corps in Crawford, TX

Any hair suggestions from the experts?
