The nice thing about being involved with the arts and music, is that you can get away with vintage more than others. It sort of comes with the territory, so to speak, to appear individual and somewhat different.

I work from an office at home, writing software. I get to wear pretty much whatever I want to wear. Usually it's dress pants and a long sleeved white dress shirt. I am not really into vintage clothing so it doesn't matter.

I'll be the first to resurrect this thread. I'm a retired prosthodontist (specialist in prosthetic dentistry). I'm now a free lance Large Scale Automotive and Aviation Replica Engineer (I build big car and airplane models).

OH YES! My first job was in Sing-Sing (that's the cottage industry of my home town; everyone works there...sooner or later). I ran the PX, essentially, with a crew of 10 murderers under me (don't want to put your thieves in the store). THAT was an eye-opener. Then a stint outside the walls as the purchasing agent...and then back inside running the pharmacy. This was all immediately post-Attica: it was a zoo. But, as you say....an observing eye and a good sense of humor will keep you in stories for many, many, MANY rounds of well-deserved beers.

Keep up the good work, and spank 'em if they need it.

Computer nerd, mostly

Well, I have done various things over time, but largely centering around computer nerd (apart from various dish washing jobs waaaaay back).

Used to:

Work in a Mac lab (with Mac 128Ks!);
Work for a digital pre-press service bureau;
Work for various software companies as tech support, Software Quality Assurance;
Did some non-tech warehouse work during the dot-bomb ;
Work for a law firm doing IT and digital forensics.

Currently working doing Macintosh IT/support.

Truthfully, I work in the dynamic and exciting world of process/design and development/manufacturing/industrial/plant/safety/maintenance engineering. We must wear many hats in today's extremely lean manufacturing industry. It's quite nice to now be experienced in such a diverse range of applied science/engineering fields. There are time that I will now design, prototype, develop, PPAP, and produce a new product. This is true internal cradle to grave.

This thread was started in 2005. I am sure many have changed jobs or had them changed by now. Would be interesting to know.
Amazing sometimes how many changes can happen in 5 years. I don't even recognize my own life lately.
