I've started collecting classic cartoons for the kids and watching along with them, I'm finding I like them almost as much as they do! Some of my favorited so far is little LuLu and mighty mouse.....anyone here got some favorites?

I'm all about the Looney Toons. Golden Collections Vol 1, 2 & 3 are all available and worth it at twice the price.

The dollar store always has these cartoons from the 30's and 40's and I can't help but buy them. I guess it's all public domain stuff, but it's really fun (if not always very PC). My four year old daughter really loves them. I think it proves that kids are not a jaded as the producers of new animation would like you to think. One of them is Tom and Jerry, but they are not a cat and mouse but more like a Laurel and Hardy setup.

The Max and Dave Fleischer Superman cartoons from the 40s are cool, though probably more of interest to adults who are into animation and design than kids who are into action.

Actually my four year old loves the Fleischer Supermans too! They are pretty short and simple. Those are public domain now also. You can buy remastered versions, but I got the Dollar Store special on that too.

the dollar tree is actually where I've been buying most of these cartoons....I first saw a woody woodpecker dvd.....and thought how cool it would be to see some of the cartoons I grew up watching. From there I got hooked
You really can't beat the price either!

I won't let my kids watch most modern cartoons. The characters are rude and crass punks. Same goes for most kids on tv these days. You cannot beat golden era cartoons.

I totally agree with you Micheal......though I got the Betty Boop dvd and thought she was a little too much for the kiddies! With not having cable, I get out of the loop as far as whats out their for the kids. It always shocks me lately whenever I do see any of the new catoons....some of them I feel even the grown ups can do without seeing them!

My favorite cartoons are Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, and Popeye. I might be the only person I know to like the Altman Popeye film! [huh]

Well, for me, you can't beat the WWII Looney Toons and Disney stuff.

Der Fuehrer's Face with D. Duck is truly a masterpiece. There's also one with gremlins in aircraft (can't remember who, but i think also D. Duck) which has stuk with me since early childhood.

One that is guaranteed to have you double OVER in laughing too hard is
ROCKA BYE BEAR. About a bear who basically has a pathological HATRED
of NOISE!!! and he wants to hire a watchdog to keep things quiet.
Ironically the bear is the LOUDEST one could ever be. Does not talk
but SHOUTS everytime he has to say something.
Tex Avery produced I believe.

Another good one is the Ranger trying to stop Woody Woodpecker from
going over Niagra Falls in a barrell.


Oh yes, the b/w Disney Cartoons that had to do with sports,
deserve mentioning.
