Coming up Saturday-

Navy beats Army for the 4th Straight Commander-in-Chief's trophy and posts a record setting 8-0 record against Army and Air Force.

Hardly even have to watch. ;)

Mascot menu

I am considering souflaki (grilled goat meat on sticks) for lunch
tomorrow to celebrate Army's victory this Saturday over the
crabtown middies. (Navy's mascot is a goat)lol

Being a proud ramblin' wreck from Georgia Tech, I just wanted to jump in on this thread and show some support for my Yellow Jackets!

Glad to see a Georgia Tech fan. I wanted to go to GT, but decided on a state school here in new york to save money. I still hope to end up in Georgia one day though.
I missed the game last weekend, but apparently Reggie Ball didn't have a very good game. I heard it wasn't too pretty. If they're broadcasting it up here on a channel i have, i will definitely be watching GT vs. wake forest this weekend.

As for NFL, i'm a new york fan all the way. J-E-T-S, jets jets jets!

My beloved Tigers played so very well, got a win in Little Rock, and are now ranked #5 :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Down here in TigerLand we're excited about the prospects to go to a BCS bowl, and POSSIBLY to the Grand Daddy of them all. That would be sweet, LSU has never been to the Rose Bowl. And how awesome would it be to be watching the Tournament of Roses on TV new year's morning and see the Golden Band from TigerLand come around that corner, especially if they're double-timing as they do when they "come down the hill" on game day at Tiger Stadium. There are a lot of good bands out there in college football land, but there's none that compare. Man, to see them come around that corner, stop, and break into the "Salute to the Four Corners of the Stadium" with the "Hold that Tiger" four notes.

Goosebumps.

No offense to the Irish supporters, but Notre Dame have only beaten one ranked team, and played all the service acadamies while getting their rear ends handed to them by Michigan. Sorry. They don't belong. USC showed them for what they are, a decent team with a possibly good coach, I like Charlie Weis, but he's not there long enough to say for certain. And believe me, with all the controversy in 2003, I have little love for U.S.C.

Tigerstripes vs Fatigues

Agreed that IRISH are not above B- level this season; although I had
hopes for last week's USC showdown. CW has shown a fair result
at Notre Dame so far, and he needs more time.

Would love to see LSU in Rose Bowl! Always regretted not applying
to LSU as an undergrad.... Go TIGERS!:)

Make that Miller Lite.

Guess I owe you a brew, bud.
I had hoped for a better result from the Irish, though I think
they played against themselves as much as against USC, which
admittedly is not Michigan State. Still, on any given Saturday afternoon....:)

Click below, and try to imagine being there in person....
In Tiger Stadium they march out from the south endzone, then the drums start, and the entire band plays the four notes, and it just sends shivers, and they turn to each corner of Tiger Stadium.

Touchdow n For LSU (Pregame)
This isn't a great version, but you'll get the idea.

I'd gladly accept, and I'd expect to get the next round. How about a nice Canadian ale?

I envy your allegiance to your alma maters, and the pride shown in the traditions of college football in America. I played some university ball at McGill in Montreal, and we even won the national championship my juniour year, but that doesn't hold a candle to the excitement and fan support Americans enjoy.

I'll admit to being a Miami Hurricane fan, due only to the fact I wanted them to knock off the Oklahomas and Nebraskas of the world in the Howard Schnellenberger era (which they did), and the incredible rivalries with Notre Dame that came after, before they slipped into the clutches of the Big East and became mediocre.

Now, just give me a storied rivalry come to life on any given Saturday, and I'll sit back and relive old memories of what might have been.

Cheers! :cheers1:

I'll second that Saturday sentiment. My own ties to the college game
are tenuous and based more on bittersweet sentiment. I declined a
regular army cadetship for marriage, but had I gone to West Point,
I would have played football for Army. Ironically, after a stay in Europe,
I applied to both Notre Dame and USC, and ND turned me down but
Southern Cal tendered an academic scholarship. I opted instead to
attend the University of Illinois at Chicago, which does not have a
football program. So I know that bittersweet Saturday afternoon feeling....

ARMY-NAVY

Army meets Navy at Philadelphia 2.30ET CBS.

:eek:fftopic: An interesting sidenote: A Navy jet flyover will occur,
and two of the four Navy pilots scheduled to participate in this aerial
are West Point graduates who transferred to the Navy because of
a fighter pilot shortage.

Once again, the US Army takes up the slack.
