It's a ~3oz rough out! So shouldn't be too thick. Yeah I guess I went a bit too big on the measurements haha...Absolutely this. Too big everywhere imo.
What hide are they making your type II out of? If I'm wearing a denim trucker I want it to fit snug, but that wouldn't apply if it's a heavy hide - you'll need some room to move. But that fit jacket gives you room for a friend too!
Sorry about that! I'll keep that in mind for next time. Thanks for moving it to the correct place.
I thought about it and I think the HD x Vanson will be good to keep as a layering/camping/beater jacket. Where as the DH can be my unzipped dress jacket and also carrot on the stick to reach my goal jacket! xDFit check TLDR - I need to lose weight is the bottom line. Fitting in the Double Helix is my MOTIVATION now!
Double Helix Deviant 42 - Everything is perfect but chest - Can't zip it up, but if I size up everything else will be too large. Need to lose like 15-20 lbs I think.
View attachment 750014 This is the Harley Davidson x Vanson Blacked Out Jacket in Large. Fits decent, arms may be too long and also bulky as compared to the DH. It zips up and it decent overall but I prefer the tighter fit of the DH. View attachment 750015
This is the Thursday Leather Moto Lamb Jacket in Large - Fits well but it doesn't give me that leather jacket punch that I'm looking for. Feels more like a cloth coat.

I didn't add zip pics, but the HDxV and TL fit well zipped and the DH is unzippable.
I want to sell the Thursday just to get rid of it before it starts to fall apart, and am on the fence with the other two. Not sure if sizing up to a 44 DH would be perfect or if it would throw off all the other dimensions off?
Anyways, any thoughts and advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
Its not the size it’s the pattern. Leather jackets have less range of movement. Particularly if they don’t have gussets. Yours fits well.View attachment 747962 View attachment 747963 View attachment 747964 View attachment 747965 View attachment 747966 View attachment 747967
Hi FL Members
Looking for advice on the fit of this sz42 Aero Premier Highwayman from Thurston I got early this year in CXL steerhide.
I feel like the fit looks pretty well. Trim but not overly tight looking. The jacket is comfortable most of the time. The challenge is that I feel restricted when doing certain movements - specifically reaching both arms straight out or up. This symptom has improved in 6 months of break in, but still noticeable.
My initial thought was the shoulders aren’t wide enough. But when I reach up or out the shoulder material tends to bunch up which I feel like might mean that’s not the issue. The real issue seems to be the seam along the yoke. This is where I feel like the jacket is restricting me when I reach out.
What do you think seeing these pictures? If you were buying another jacket, what change would you make to measurements?
Would an extra 1.5 in of shoulder make this better or worse? I’m considering a second hand sheene that’s similar in all other measurements but with wider shoulders.
How would this cut compare with that of a sheene?
True, but it's just so exaggerated and not representative of the reality haha. The pattern with the action back gives such great upper body mobility though, I guess that's why I wear this CR so much with layers in this cold weather. And the black CXL is just out of this world, I can't get enough of it, incredible.Looks great both ways. Your upper back looking massive is not a bug, it's a feature![]()
Looks goodMy first shearling vest just arrived!
When I ordered it I already had my Aero CR in mind as it has the most room in the body of all my jackets.
Works pretty well I'd say, not too tight with the vest. But damn it makes my upper back look MASSIVE.
The vest itself also fits great, does it look good?
What do you folks think of the vest fit and vest+CR fit?

Ok cool. They do a free size exchange so I think I’ll swap it for a 44. If that doesn’t fit then I think it’s just not a good cut for me. It should be relatively comfortable out of the box right? Maybe some tightness but not too restrictive? I imagine it’s like breaking in new bootsIf it is too tight now, it won't stretch and become comfortable over time. If you can return it and get the other two and see before returning one of them (or both if none fits), it would be best.
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. Yeah that’s what I figure. I should’ve need help getting it off. I know new leather is stiff but that indicates improper fit to meOthers more knowledgeable (and with more jackets) can chime in, but I would put it as it should fit right out of the box. It being comfortable or not could be a different topic, even if fit and comfort can often go together.
I didn’t measure it but that’s what Schott says. Hopefully the 44 fits better otherwise I’ll just return itIt shouldn’t be tight, it won’t stretch. I would try a size up. Does the jacket measure 23” pit to pit?
