I just got these two pins recently.

Been finding some nice feathers on the ground lately. Also found a small, recently molten probably young garter snake skin that I’m trying to figure out how to use for an adornment.
Shown here on the hats are a custom tooled leather band, yellow finch and unidentified silver feathers, blue jay feathers

Nudging this thread as I impatiently await the completion of a new hat. A horsehair hat band with the tassles cut-off and a modified tie-tack to hold the hat band tight around the hat.

I am a fan of a pin on the hat band. I have no idea what I might use for the next hat.

A few yrs ago I had this beaded band made for another hat. It’s an exact copy of an original pattern that was broken or otherwise damaged. It was a great match for the hat but turns out I didn’t like wearing that hat much. So today I dropped it on this Worth-Walden. Not a good match so I did net even tighten it up.

It would appear to be a good match for this Kevin O’Farrell if I remove the 3-ply. I also have a late No. 1Q with a skinny ribbon, in need of a bath that might get a look.

This is an Atatürk lapel pin I inherited from my dear Turkish Father-in-law. I first wore it in a navy blue polo shirt collar. But in this blue modern Borsalino hat, I can wear it more often, it looks alot better than the gold Borsalino logo, and I think it really works, what do you guys think?

$2.00. I was going for it up until the last second when I just couldn't do it. Not that it would have been that expensive, but would have been expensive enough for what little use I would get out of it (as the shipping probably would have been $30). Sorry man ...

I just saw this thread, and I like it. I am a big sucker for leather, sterling silver buckles and pins, etc.
So naturally, a few of my "refurbished" (resized, with cordovan shell leather piece added to sweatband, brims cut to 3"-3 1/4" and crowns reshaped) western hats are getting leather hatbands with silverware.
Here I share some examples.

It’s a slouch hat pin from the 34th Annual National Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic held on August 26-30, 1900 in Chicago, IL. Worth a minimum of $500. Damn is right!

3" to 3 1/4" is my preferred brim width, similar to my preference for broad-pinched fedora-like crowns (the classical rancher creases with wide brims don't suit me well). The brim trimming and addition of broad hatbands in some of my hats has also been a necessity, to cover moth damage and damaged brim edges (my refurbished hats are often beaters, requiring cleaning, naphta bathing, trimming, etc, yet I strive to keep original sweatbands and liners).

I should have checked in. Searching for "GAR Hat Pin" kicked up a slew of the "wreath" pins, but not anything like this. Dammit.

I'm just going to pretend the "other guy" bid $500 ...
