Re-sewing a sweatband

Has anyone ever tried to resew a sweat band that has come out of a hat? I got my Kenmore today and the liner is torn which I knew and the band is coming out-didn't know, Can I sew in back in myself? And if so-How?

cotton thread, slik, nylon? Help?

HI Nick,
you can resew a sweat by first, cutting any ribbon binding stitches at the bandline ( where the crown meets the brim) and lifting the ribbon up enough to reach the leather, Then use cotton thread ( rayon stretches too much) to resew in a locking stitch. After resewing the sweat, retack the ribbon back down.
Take your time & it shouldn't be a problem.
