Your ric rac dress inspired me to use the stuff, Lauren :) It looked so nice and understated I just HAD to try it!

Snookie, I completely know what you mean about not having enough fabric. Been there more times than I care to remember. I also like pairing up fabrics for a dress. The flower print is a cotton seersucker, but the yoke is a rayon crepe (backed with a matching cotton for stability). You are right it completely shows off the design of a dress that can so easily get bogged down by a particular pattern of the sewer is not careful.

Thanks everyone on the compliments! I just really like sewing. The powder blue one is #3 in a total of 5 times Ive made up this pattern and Im just NOW getting to a point where Im totally happy with the neckline. Revers are not always friendly :) I also was not completely sold on the blue stripes at first. Thought I might have overdone it with that and the ric rac, but it worked. *whew*

Here is the dress I've been working on this week, its sunny enough for once to wear it, the bodice and pockets are from vintage patterns, for the rest I just sort of winged it.

My husband likes the collar around the bodice. He calls it the "winky" dress.

Thank You Mrs. Cleaver. Lady Day, I just looked at your Repro patterns on Etsy.
Your pattern illustrations are the cutest, and we take the same (bust) size.

Odile- That dress is amazing. I love the contrast and the main fabric is beautiful.
Marla-Those pants are cute but I adore the blouse.I have seen that fabric before.I may have to get some.
Wahine- Both those dresses are wonderful but I am quite fond of the first one.
SayCici- I love Civil War dress as I am a big fan of an early 40's shirtwaist and the 30's skirt is adorable also.
crwritt- those sandles are adorable and I am really inspired to try something similar.
Lauren- You are just too amazing for words. I always love everything you do.
Great blouse Snookie. I love the fabric.
Lady Day- I love both those dresses but the one with the rick rack trim is my favorite.

Made a cotton bathrobe for summer with some great novelty fabric I got on clearance . . . . the scallops didn't turn out as dramatic as I'd hoped, but it's comfy. Although with the fitted bodice, it looks better when I wear a bra! lol

I had fun with the circular border print, but these pictures make me feel not so photogenic.

Bopeep, that print is fun! There is a trick with the scallops, you need to use interfacing, and be sure to make that inside point exaggerated. Your stitches
should follow a line like \_/ at the very bottom of the point, surprisingly after you clip and turn the fabric the point will be more sharp.

Ahhh! Even more beautiful than I was expecting! And fits you like a glove... Thanks for not keeping us in suspense on this one!

Thanks for the tip, crwritt. I have a full-skirted dress pattern with similar scallops so I'll try your method on that one. And your dress turned out really nice! I've been debating over a piece of yellow and gray rose border print. I think I've been inspired!

Thank you , LD. I made up the bodice then put it on and chalked the neckline.
Finished the edge with narrow bias tape. I'm really happy with the armhole shaping, too. I wish I had your talent, though, so I could draw perky cartoons of me wearing these dresses, instead of modeling them myself.
Bopeep, is your border print a circle?
Before I forget , here is a tutorial on scallops.

This is not vintage, and I didn't sew it I just cut and put it together for a friends 3 year old who is taking ballet lessons. I did make that bathing suit out of the cotton for practice, but it's to short. So when I wear it with bathing suit briefs it just looks like I am wearing a shirt and forgot to put on my pants lol!

Shebear, you'd be right in style with the current "pantless" trend. I love the Tutu, every three year old girl should have one. My own grand daughter is three now, and favors the tank top and undies look. She wore dresses last year, hope this is a phase.
Thank you for the compliments on the floral dress. I'm very pleased with how it came out. I know where there is a huge bolt of that fabric if anyone wants to
give it a try. Let me know.

Aw thanks :) Its amazing what you can do with your time when you have no steady work :D
I finished the other two.

Two more from the WWII pattern. With the navy one, I used the same fabric I used on my previous 'dustbowl' dress. I think its my favorite of them all.
