Appears open crown but actually has a center dent.
Gorgeous hat in a very unique felt hue. Thanks for sharing.
I like the hat and shirt combo today. You have been breaking out some grand shirts of late.
Morning dog soire in a gray thin ribbon fedora.
Cheers, Eric -
Thanks Eric. Mostly LLBean and Pendleton shirts, I like the plaids. Not much sweater weather here the last few weeks but it's still April, so....
Thank you, Stefan. I really like the crease as well; so much so that I haven’t touched it as it came to me with this crease.
Chillin' on a Saturday afternoon under the Stetson Pikes Peak.
WElcome to the Lounge. Nice start.
Do ya ever get the itch to get in the mix with a folding chair?
We need to find a third Musketeer so we can go on an adventure.
Knice Knox. Now I don't feel so bad about my late post, LOL.
Twenty-four hours ago, the Gannon Mr. Natural.
Would it be bad if I said yes?
Then again that dissipates when I think of getting hit with one.
The Three.......... no.. TWO Musketeers
Stetson Select Quality, c.1930.
Stetson distressed...one of my favorites!
Resistol Hi Sierra in pine green:
The Mallory Ten - Premier Quality
Taupe to Very Light Milk Chocolate felt
5 3/4 Crown open - 5 1/4 as shaped
1 3/4 Burgundy grosgrain ribbon
2 3/4 brim with half inch rose gold grosgrain binding
I should have memorialized my guess for this mystery hat from a few weeks back that finally arrived today with its travel partner. Based on the sellers only photo of the top... I was convinced Mallory. As it seemed to echo the styling of the dark brown Mallory “whippet clone” that arrived a couple weeks ago. It is in fact The Mallory Ten and the styling may take from Whippets cues... but this is a bit bigger hat at a 2 3/4 brim. The color is sort of taupe to very light chocolate milk with soft thin felt. A good sized crown at 5 3/4. The ribbon offsets with a dark burgundy which is hard to capture correctly in the photos and a half inch contrasting rose gold brim binding. The 1817 logo date indicates post 1946 Stetson takeover... and the OPS tag narrows it as 1951 to 53 with a $10 selling price putting right in the Whippet market. Heavy brushing cleaned it up very well. But it might could use some work with a damp rag... and possibly some light sanding to remove the subtle foxing on the felt. But all and all quite a hat!
Here is the original seller photo...
Back tomorrow with the mystery OR style hat...
Nice green Brent
I love old Mallorys. Congratulations on a wonderful fedora with, for me, just about the perfect specs!
Thanks Brent... very happy with this one. Just a bit over my current comfort zone.... but that’s a good thing.
My last long hair post. Getting my Covid hair cut tomorrow morning. Today a Stetson Straw Open Road.
Thank you, Steve!
