Just completed a fun little project. I was experimenting on this Churchill Western. It's one of two Churchills that a couple of generous Loungers sent to me. This one was converted on a custom hat block that Mark Havens made up for me. I was a little disappointed in the block at first because it didn't come out the way I wanted. It had a very slight front to back taper, and the top wasn't as rounded as I wanted. It also had a very slight taper on one side. In any event, it's still pretty straight sided, (noticeably more so than a #52), but not vertical like my RA. The more I looked at that block, the more I realized that I could get some nice creases out of it, especially Center Dents, and still come up with a tall straight crown after creasing. Also, I did a dimensional cut brim on this one and flanged it on a #19 brim flange to see what one would look like. Anyway, I see more hats blocked on my Mark Havens block, and more dimensional cut brims in my future. (unfortunately, Mark Havens passed away a couple or so years ago. He and I got to be pretty good friends and he was always helpful with advise.)

Completed: with an 1 1/2 Burgundy ribbon. Brim is 2 3/4 front to back and 2 1/2 on the sides...

Tall straight crown with a Center Dent:

I was surprised at how well this Burgundy ribbon paired with the hat color:
