Busy morning....Headed 50 miles over to Lufkin to look at new truck tires this morning. Also picked up a new framing nailer so I can finally get the back patio roof repaired. Most importantly I finalized a horsetrade at the archery shop for a big new 36x36 bow target for the yard. Seemed like a good old hat day. This ones an older Moose River ... think Ive had it since the 80s. It was well worn and floppy so I added the brim binding so it holds its shape better.

R. & M. Wegener "Start" possibly early 1930s. The Felt is a fantastic mélange with a fine Rauh finish + soft hand. It has a hidden stitched over welt curled Brim (popular in the time period) with Back Bow. I found this Soft Felt back in 2020.

A rare gem, Steve. Style, felt, finish: it's all there!
Oooh, that's a good looking hat, Jeff.

A week of repeats this Sunday. With blazing temperatures during the week (it's supposed to be the cool north here!) straw was the only option.

With the heatwave in our part of the world, Stefan, straw was the only choice.

Some nice ones there. I especially love all the ribbons. They really set each hat off.

This is one of two hats I just got from @Bill Hughes , but since I wore it today I will post it here.

This is a Milan made by Peters Bros. in TX. I immediately loved this thing. The rich brown adds some variety to my summer lineup, and I love the ribbon that Bill added to this one.

Bill is a smidge smaller than me size-wise, so this was also an experiment. Straight out of the box I could get it onto the top of my head, but not down where it belongs.

I put a four-way hat jack in it, hit it with a little steam, stretched it a bit and now it fits perfectly. I can't see any distortion in the brim or crown, which I had been worried about.

By the way, in case I'm the last person on earth to figure this out, the two-way hat jacks are hot garbage. The four-ways are more expensive, and worth twice what you pay. My opinion, worth what you paid for it. :)

At any rate, here we go - thanks Bill.

This is from unboxing day - best angle for the hat and best color - love Bill's ribbon choice

I think I figured out my lighting problem - I like blue light indoors - if I pull these lights and replace them with warmer bulbs, I should be able to get better color going forward - project for another day

I might have created a little space in the sweatband when I stretched the hat a bit - if so, I hate to see it, but it was a learning experience. I will be more patient next time.

A handsome trio, indeed! No need to apologize, Stefan; sometimes practicality dictates fashion. The Penumbra as #1, the Mossant as #2, and the Dunlap as #3. Thanks for sharing!
