How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

This NYPD style is the rarest! And when it does appear, it's almost always in an unwearable state. These are always made from the best looking HH around. Or steer hide. No other type of cop jacket comes even close. Except for of course CHP jackets but that's an entirely different matter.

This needs a serious clean before i get anywhere near it, it smells all sorts of funky!
I have been looking for a Taubers racing shirt for a while, but have never seen one big enough. I think this is the closest i will find in my size.
I can't find any info on this Vanson version, anyone knows anything about them? I think it is called a "Denver" but that's all i could find.

Lol you got that one??? I was following the auction but figured I'd never really wear it. Throw it in a washing machine!

Could not resist. NYC Police Jacket-- looks like the model LW based one of their police repros on-- down to the two-way zip.

Yes, that looks like the real deal.. I've seen many of these.. should be a 3 piece back in the shape of T..no pockets, horsehide, usually the patch would be on the Right sleeve.. but maybe the picture is reversed some how

I'm not sure why i did, but i did...
Pretty sure the way it was described helped keep the price down!

I just go an answer from Vanson (5 minutes after sending an email) and these are indeed called "Denver" in this layout, or "Scout" if fringed. They were apparently a big seller in the 90s, they are made with lighter weight black chap leather, although it doesn't feel light by any means.

How do you plan on cleaning the funk?

The good old way, in the tub with some Lexol cleaner and a scrubber. Followed by a couple coats of Pecards.

I'm really curious how these fit. You'll do a review, right? The one Terry had looked great but I still don't think I'd have the attitude to wear it.

And related to the thread, just got this...

The smell was a bit much so i haven't tried it on yet, but i can tell by the measurements it will fit.
Once it is dry i will post a full review...

Who said the funk was dead?

Yes, T-shaped back. The patch is on the left but it seems to be a unit patch. I will check when it arrives.

My lord that Cal is sweeeeeet. If its way too big (too big for Carlos) you know where to find me.

The NYPD jacket was on eBay, out of Detroit if I recall correctly. If it ends up looking anything like the one you posted I will be happy.

Excellent Carlos:
Very hard to find. Vanson doesn’t even have the old patterns to remake these.
Does your’s have the large inside throat protector? Good get!

Yep, according to Vanson they are now obsolete, they do however still have 2 fringed Scout models in stock.
Not sure when they stopped making them, mine is from 2001.
It does have the throat protector, with 2 snap buttons to adjust it, or you can fold it inside the shirt and have the collar open. It is a pretty cool detail.

Looks like I have a Vanson Model E coming.
What is the difference between a Model E and a Highwayman? On Vanson's website I only found Highwayman.

I wonder how much it would cost to have a custom one made with grey leather done.
We'll see how this fits first when it shows up.

Why don’t you step into my office...LOL. Model E is the Highwayman. I had one in grey. Do it.

So Model E = Highwayman?
Then why have two names?

I know you had. I am not allowed to use the correct words on this website to describe how I feel about you selling it.
However I then thought, someone had it made, maybe they would make another...

So now I've got one coming (I hope it fits) to learn about how I like it and what I might ask for.
Then see how much it would cost in grey. New Highwayman is only about $780. But a custom might be more.
I don't know.
