Wow, very awesome Joe ! A lot of these showing up all of a sudden. I thought they were pretty rare.

Thanks Tim! I’m sure there were many indeed shipped over here like this... If as they say they were intended only to be shipped inside these boxes.. I imagine there are less and less still in that state over time. These were the first I personally came across. Didn’t Michael find a higher end one a few weeks back in 2nd hand store?

Best,
Joe

Ok my friends, the wife said the hat was all wrong and my pictures were terrible. Then she dragged me outside to do it better. New hat; another VS, my newest actually, whisky. I love the bow work. Fits perfect, as you would suspect an Art Fawcett to fit. So. Hat number two of the day. View attachment 205221 View attachment 205222 View attachment 205223 View attachment 205224

Terrific pics of that piece of Art. Grand hat!

M.W.B. Stolzf. Luxury Velour made for Bernward Leineweber, Berlin, probably 1930s.

I love seeing your velour hats Steve. The silver velour ones are my favs! Thanks for sharing your collection.

Grey heather Kami ca. late 1930s today. Just had a yearning to give this one an outing again.

Looking sharp in your hat. I do appreciate how you pair your patterned attire.

No head pics yet. Wearing my thin ribbon Caxton conversion. I actually started this one a very good while ago and tucked it away, unfinished. I finally worked up enough ambition and finished the brim binding and ribbon work. I'm done for a little bit until after my appointment with pain management next Friday. I have more in the Conversion Corral...

Dang your handiwork is fine! Excellent ribbon treatments. I do look forward to your radio pics.

One of my favorite hats - Black Cherry Indy 4 from John Penman.

My first posting here. Black Portis sterling quality stingy brim. Just arrived today. My first Portis. Great vintage hat.
View attachment 205488

Welcome sir. The Portis looks sharp.

It is from the Wildfowl Mixture line and is composed of two different colors. The primary color is Eider Green (Eider is a large sea duck) with the secondary color being Woodcock Brown (Woodcock is part of the sandpiper family).

I have not been able to find any information about these “Wildfowl” hats. I can’t even determine if they were ever even sold in the United States. This one came from England. The only reference I have found is a sales ad in a newspaper from Sydney Australia dated March 31, 1954. I have the original box and the date on shipping label is 28 May 1957. Found out the V is for May.

Bill that is just a grand hat! Lovely addition to your hat rack.

Feeling quite regal under America's Finest Hat, generously gifted to me by a fellow Lounger a few years ago.

Michael, well attired as usual for the inclimate weather.

Vintage Stetson wide brim that I converted a few years ago. I like this lighter ivory color felt . Not white but has grey flecks in felt when you look at it closely. I added the silk ribbon and the bow end curls up naturally.

I do like the ribbon work and the wide brim. Sharp.

Out for a walk today in my brush-burning Resistol. Came up on a couple dozen wild turkeys, but couldn’t get a good pic. Also ... the ice worms cometh.

Well, someone has to bite the bullet and follow the sharpest dressed man around these parts (thanks Reggie). Schlepping around in the Woodrow Amylyte bowler:

Sharp outside dudes today Michael.

Vintage Stetson Sovereign Twenty hat adventures today.

Snow blowing walkways and driveways was the task for my green hat this morning. Working hard has the fine snow particles lightly icing on the crown and brim. Inside it warms u and the particles brush off easily without leaving a mark. The vintage hats are durable for my adventures.

Don't you just love those wonderful, and sometime brutally honest daughters!

nej sir, jeg taler næppe engelsk. Jeg så det op for dig, respektfuldt.
My daughter is 15 and I pick her up from school every day as well as swimming practice 2 1/2 hours a day. She has absolutely no problem with my fedoras, I’ve asked her a couple times. As for the bowler, her exact words were “I’m not gonna lie, you look kinda stupid”. Hey, you can’t win em all. I’ll wear it, just not around the ‘cool kids’ LOL

There's a saying in Danish, "you hear the truth from the mouths of drunks and children." Can you imagine the look on their faces if we told them the truth about that piece of crap they brought home from art class [emoji23]
