I love the character time has brought to that sweatbandThis week I will feature the C. G. Wilke Guben, Germany Hat Factory. Founded by Carl Gottlob Wilke in 1822 Guben, Germany. He invented the weather-proof wool hat and was a major contributor in the mechanization of hat making. C. G. Wilke manufactured both Wool and Fur (including Velour) Soft and Stiff Felt Hats. C. G. Wilke Factory was severely damaged during WWII. Guben was the largest hat making center in Germany up to WWII but was heavily damaged during the war. What remained of the Guben Hat Industry infrastructure after WWII was nationalized as VEB United Hutwerke Guben (Guben was located in the GDR).
C. G. Wilke "B. Sup.", Crown Open 6 inches, Brim 2 1/2 inches, possibly mid to late 1920s. The Velour Felt is very pliable in the Crown and the Brim stiffness is enforced by the Over Welt. The Black Velour is of medium length and shows nice gloss but not Soleil. There as remnants of stitching behind the sweatband so originally it had a liner.

Great outfit, as always. Your black knit tie rings a certain note for me, as for several years I've found one to be an indispensable item for my wardrobe. In fact, over the last few years I've acquired the silk versions in eight or nine colors. They pair well with patterned shirts, sweaters, vests, or jackets.Unknown maker hat again on the last nice day for a week.
