My whole schedule for last sunday lay in dust, but better late than never I guess. Here are last week's hats.

You, Stefan, good Sir, have cost me a small fortune, let me explain. Tina bought me amongst other things, some fabric for Christmas.
shirt (camo).jpg
Look closely, it's not camouflage, it's silhouettes of pin up girls. My shirt fairy
has been very busy. But this is a hat thread, and there's a hat that you wore
a while back the colour of which was, as the French say: Ooh-la-la!
There's brown, black, green and khaki in that fabric, I could have chosen any
but there was that green hat of your's. I couldn't forget it.

So, as my shirt is bespoke, and there's a bespoke pair of shoes being made at
this moment, and, as you might expect, my shirt fairy made a pair of trousers
too, as Kermit once said: "It's not easy being green." It is with this bespoke hat.
shirt, shoes, hat all green 026.JPG

When Colin, of Colin Johnson Shoes, has finished my order, I will let you see
the shoes he's made, together with Tina's handiwork and that of my milliner.

Glad to be of service, Robert;) How often will you get the chance to get that well dressed up in bespoke top to bottom? I think the special camouflage cloth is a riot that will get you many a double take. As Peter Lord of Aardman Animation once said: anything for a giggle.

So happy to see so many of us were crowding around waiting for the lounge doors to open
Banging frantically on the doors every 5 minutes or so:oops:
An ultra rare 40s Schoble fedora that I have completely restored back to its original condition...as much as possible.
This was a job done for a client who has hundreds of super nice vintage fedoras and westerns, most if not all in mint condition. So it was with some trepidation that I agreed to take on such a task on a rare and wonderful hat and name plate. Probably just as much concern on the client’s side, too, I’d imagine. However, I think she turned out quite nice.
The pics show the stages of its restoration.
Hated having to send this one back a week ago. Client is very happy that I did!
Guess I need to start a restoration thread since I can’t find one that’ll work?
Notice in two of the photos the shape of the hat as it arrived to the client in a too small box. The horror!!!
He referred to it as the, “Square Schoble “.
Stunning. After seeing your work here on the lounge, I would feel pretty confident sending you any hat.

I told you that I spent a fortune: That milliner, well he knows that I can resist anything, except temptation. He showed me two swatches of felt, that green, it's called racing green, and another called, nutmeg. How could I resist either?

The shoes are from former Lounger, SJC. Tina made the trousers and the shirt and that milliner created the hat. I do love the colour.

I’m a sucker for the hairy fedoras and especially when in my favorite color! Also dig that Fifteen burg dressed out with that killer binding color.
Incidentally, I have a money green Imperial Stetson hommie with a closely hued ribbon edge color. Green and salmon. Hmmm.
Looks good on a fish....

Thanks for the Schoble and flat top compliments.
Is there a formal name for that style?

I'm amazed by the FL's upgrade. So quick to access now. I'd gotten used to the sluggish nature of the site after the FL dropped Tapatalk. It's a whole new experience as from today.

Congrats and thanks to the folks behind the scenes.

Borsalino Bismuto was today's hat of choice.

Thanks a million, Shoe!

Thanks to my parents DNA, trial and error over many years and the good ole FL in the last two years, I have been able to learn quickly. Still wish I could talk with some long time hatters so I could ask a few technical questions. Always plenty to learn in any field.

So yeah, I'm not a baseball cap guy, except for walking the dogs. Nor am I actually a sports fan. However, as a Cincinnati area native and resident for the majority of my life (with a stint in CT for 14 years in the middle), I'm pretty much required to wear this hat for this week, everywhere I go, to show support for my friends that ARE fans and have waited a long time. I'll return to Derbys, and work on restoring the Fedora, shortly....

Not today, but while the lounge was down, Etsuko and I were in our Hornskovs.

Both are tall crowned hats in their catalogue, but we both ordered them with reduced crown size. I love the tall crown on my Hornskov Broker, but find the medium crown easier for regular wear.

Thanks Randall. Like most sensible fish I try to avoid having green sprinkled on me:D

Stefan,

Thanks! I think it might have some wool in the mix.

Such a fantastic array of hats from you. It's great to see the different countries / companies represented. Lembert is one haven't seen in a while.
Nothing wrong with a bit of wool in the mix. Thanks for the likes. The Lembert is a tad tight on me so it doesn't get a lot of wear, but it certainly isn't for a lack of quality.
